🥕🌽 Eat Your Vegetables Day at Mount Lockyer 🌽🥕

Tomorrow is Eat Your Vegetables Day, so today at Mount Lockyer we decided to explore a variety of vegetables and use them to create some amazing artwork!

The children used their fine motor skills, dexterity, creativity, and imagination to transform vegetables into wonderful creations, including lions, dinosaurs, octopuses, and snowmen.

It was wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm and creativity as they experimented with different shapes, colours, and textures. They were very proud of their masterpieces and excited to take them home to share with their families.

What a fun and engaging way to celebrate vegetables while developing important skills and encouraging imaginative play! 🥦🎨✨

❄️🥣 Day 2 of Winter Calls for Soup! 🥣❄️

On this chilly second day of winter, our children warmed up with a delicious homemade pumpkin and lentil soup. Filled with wholesome ingredients, it was the perfect lunch to keep little tummies full and warm.

Winter is a wonderful time to enjoy comforting foods while spending time together with friends.

The children loved gathering around the table, sharing conversations, and enjoying every spoonful of this tasty seasonal treat.
Nothing says winter quite like a warm bowl of soup! 🎃🧡

🤝 Teamwork Makes the Dream Work! 🤝

Behind every successful and fun afternoon session is a team of dedicated educators working together. Our educators regularly take time to collaborate, share ideas, plan engaging experiences, and support one another to ensure the best outcomes for our children.

By combining their strengths, creativity, and knowledge, they create an environment where children can learn, explore, and thrive while having plenty of fun along the way!

A big thank you to our amazing team for their commitment, teamwork, and passion each and every day. 🌟

This week marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, running from 27 May to 3 June.

Throughout the week, we take the opportunity to educate and engage our children in learning about First Nations cultures, histories and traditions, while exploring the meaning and importance of reconciliation in Australia.

Through conversations, experiences, stories, art and activities, we encourage our children to develop respect, understanding and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.

National Reconciliation Week reminds us of the importance of building relationships, showing respect and working together towards a more inclusive future for all Australians. ❤️💛🖤

🐝 This week we celebrated Bee Day! 🐝

The children had so much fun creating their own bees out of egg cartons while learning about these amazing little pollinators. It was a great hands-on activity filled with creativity, conversation and lots of smiles! 🎨🌼

🐝 Funny Bee Fact: Honey never spoils… archaeologists have even found honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that was still good to eat! 🍯😮

The children were so proud of their bee creations and we loved seeing everyone get involved this week! ✨

Safe, smooth transitions from school to OSHC make all the difference in a child’s day 💛

At Mt Lockyer OSHC, from the moment the bell rings, our focus is on creating a calm, welcoming environment where children feel secure and supported. Clear routines, familiar faces, and open communication help ease the shift from the classroom to after-school care.

We prioritise:
✔️ Safe collection procedures
✔️ Strong communication with schools and families
✔️ Emotional check-ins with each child
✔️ A balance of rest, play, and connection

Every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and settled as they move through their day—and we’re here to make that happen.

Lest we forget 🌹

Today we pause to remember and honour the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of all those who have served and continue to serve. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

We remember them.

Our future is in their hands 🌏💙

Teaching the next generation about caring for our oceans and waterways is so important. Every piece of rubbish that ends up in the water can harm marine life, damage ecosystems, and impact the beauty of our natural world.

By helping children understand the importance of not littering, recycling, and looking after their environment, we are empowering them to become responsible and respectful stewards of the planet. Small actions—like putting rubbish in the bin or reusing materials—can make a big difference.

Together, we can inspire young minds to protect our oceans today, for a cleaner, healthier tomorrow 🌊✨
