🇹🇼🇦🇺 Fu Jen Catholic University and the University of Canberra Establish Sister University Partnership, Expanding International Collaboration
🇹🇼🇦🇺 賀! 天主教輔仁大學與澳洲坎培拉大學締結姊妹校、拓展國際合作新里程碑

🌏🌍🌎

President Francis Yi-Chen Lan of Taiwan’s Fu Jen Catholic University (FJCU) led a delegation to visit the University of Canberra (UC) on May 27, where the two institutions officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Student Exchange Agreement, establishing a sister university partnership and opening new opportunities for future collaboration in teaching, research, and talent exchange.

This partnership originated from a visit in June last year, when Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra the Hon. Bill Shorten, led a delegation to Taiwan at the invitation of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and visited Fu Jen Catholic University. Through in-depth discussions, both universities gained a deeper understanding of each other’s educational strengths and internationalization strategies, paving the way for subsequent collaboration talks. Fu Jen University’s return visit to Canberra marked a new milestone in the partnership between the two institutions.

The agreements were signed by President Francis Yi-Chen Lan of Fu Jen Catholic University and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Michelle Lincoln of the University of Canberra, witnessed by representatives from both sides. Members of the Fu Jen Catholic University delegation included: Vice President for International Education Dr. Wei-Min Liu, Director of the Interdisciplinary English-Instruction Bachelor’s Program Dr. Ariana Chang, Professor Jane Liu from the Department of Nutrition Science, Assistant Professor Chi-Wen Chen from the Department of Physical Education, and Acting Director Louise Lee of the Academic Exchange Center. The University of Canberra delegation was led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Michelle Lincoln and faculty leaders.

Also in attendance were Deputy Representative Regine Huey-jen Chen from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia and Secretary Wei-Chen Lee from the Education Division, demonstrating the regard for Taiwan and Australia's higher education collaboration and exchange.

The signing of the MoU and Student Exchange Agreement symbolises the establishment of a robust relationship between the two universities and lays a solid foundation for future international academic collaboration. Both institutions look forward to fostering globally competitive and cross-culturally capable talents, while continuing to expand the scope of Taiwan–Australia higher education partnerships.

Following the signing ceremony President Francis Yi-Chen Lan and the Fu Jen Catholic University delegation visited the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia, where they convened with Deputy Representitive Regine Huey-jen Chen, Director Angela Kuo of the Economic Division, Secretary Wei-Chen Lee of the Education Division, Secretary Hao-Wei Chang of the Science and Technology Division, and Secretary Chun-Yi Wang. The two sides exchanged views on Taiwan–Australia cooperation in the areas of economy, education, and science and technology.

🍵🍵🍵Sold-out Event: 'TAIWAN Unboxed: ‘Taiwan Teahouse’ showcases Taiwan Education Opportunities while taking Australian Students behind the scenes of Tea Production
🍵🍵🍵《臺灣開箱:Taiwan Teahouse》活動座無虛席!帶領澳洲學生深入體驗臺灣教育機會與製茶文化幕後故事

🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿
Many scholars are drawn to Taiwan for its technological advances and preserved traditional culture, including traditional Chinese characters. At the recent “Taiwan Unboxed: Taiwan Teahouse” event at the Australian National University, attendees explored study opportunities in Taiwan while learning how tea is produced. The sold-out event, organised by interns Rena and Miko under Acting Director Wei-chen Lee, featured presentations on education opportunities and tea-related cultural sites near Taiwanese universities. Guests, including professionals, students, and academics, enjoyed Taiwanese snacks alongside Jinxuan Green Tea and Purple-leafed Black Tea from Taiwan's Jhanghu Village in Yunlin County. Alice showed participants about the differing production processes of green and black tea and their seasonal relationships before ending the afternoon with a lively Kahoot quiz on tea and scholarships.

🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿
