Inspired by 5 Rhythms and other Dance Movement practices, Dance to Your Heart’s Content provides a weekly space to release, express and energise through movement, giving you an opportunity to free your body and soul and still the mind. Experienced facilitators are uniting to offer you a variety of experiences; from backgrounds in a range of disciplines including Dance movement therapy, African dance, Flamenco, Silk Road, Gypsy, Contemporary, Breathwork, Nia and more. They will provide a carefully designed series of musical adventures along with just enough tuition or guidance to get you going so that you feel safe to explore your body’s knowing in order to travel an inner journey at your own pace. The event is open to all adults and there is no expectation of previous experience nor a term’s commitment – just come along when you need to dance! See below to find out about our facilitators who will be bringing you unique mixes of music and movement inspirations based on their personal skills and experience. About the Facilitators
Marina Bistrin
Marina is a dance-explorer and invites you into the related dance styles of Bellydance, Gypsy dances from Spain, Russia and Balkans, and the Silk-Road. A wonderful way into these are gentle warm up movements that get your body flowing, expressive and connected as a whole. Marina will bring you imagery, movements from nature, playing with body-language and wonderful music from various cultures, from which you may take what you want and go on your own journey. Marina has been teaching for 20 years and incorporates ideas from various modalities such as Dance-Movement Therapy, Alexander Technique, Feldenkreis and traditional spiritual practices. Monica Espinoza
Monica Espinoza is a Dance Movement Specialist, Ballet Coach, Nia Practitioner and Creative and Expressive Dancer. She has experience working with various population groups and communities, including schools, tailoring sessions to individual needs, for wellbeing purposes. When Monica experienced the capacity of movement to bring about healing, she began to explore the art of dance as a self healing art by embracing Dance Therapy. Monica now runs workshops and classes for children and adults at her Lalichi studios, as well as facilitating art therapy sessions for community groups. http://lalichistudios.com.au/
“By listening to my body I get in touch with my feelings and emotions… and by noticing I bring awareness… so I can choose what is best for my life and body at my own pace… this is my key to continuously self heal. Now you can choose to step into the magic of your own journey with dance-movement.” Monica Espinoza
Lamae Saunders
Lamae’s love of movement began with fifteen years of ballroom dancing although it is her experience of Spirit Dance, Chakra dance and 5 Rhythms that led her to want to offer something along those lines to her local community. She also brings her experience in the therapeutic setting of women’s circles to her ability to hold space for your own unique pathway through these movement sessions.
“What I loves about these types of classes is that one is free to allow their body to respond to the music and be taken where their body needs to go in each moment – whether it’s rolling around the floor or bouncing off the walls – there is no right or wrong way to dance – it’s about allowing your body to move and the music to take you on a journey”. Lamae Saunders
Fiona Haasz
Fiona is a Dancer, Dance Therapist, Transpersonal Art Therapist, Dance video maker, Dance Animateur and African Dancer! She has experience working in a variety of contexts including improvised physical theatre, Aboriginal communities, schools and festivals. Her love of dance stemmed from when she was a young gymnast – her mother (also her gym coach) created dance improvisation sessions using luscious world music – here Fiona realised this was an incredible source of joy and freedom of expression. http://www.riverofplenty.com.au/
Bec Page
Rebecca was brought into this world dancing and it is dance that has inspired and shaped her life. With a Bachelor Degree in Contemporary Arts (Dance and Visual Art) and further studies in African Dance in Ghana, Rebecca has found that dance is sacred, joyful, peaceful… and most importantly, needs to be shared. Rebecca has done this via organisations that work with community sectors including Intellectual disabilities, Mental health and Aboriginal children. Rebecca currently works as a Dance teacher and an Early Childhood Learning and Movement teacher. Rebecca has traveled the world learning as much as she can about native cultural indigenous dance to mix it all up and stomp her feet deep into the earth. The timetable
