🎼🎤🎷 A Cabaret Night to Remember 🎷🎤🎼

Earlier this term, there was celebration and excitement as the community came together for our annual Cabaret Night featuring a wide array of music ensembles and soloists from jazz, pop, rock and musical theatre genres. Creating a jazz club vibe, students captivated the audience throughout the evening.

A highlight for many students was getting the opportunity to perform alongside our special guest artist, Xani Kolac - a leading voice in Melbourne's Jazz scene. Students were provided a window into the professional music scene through a workshop with Xani in the lead up to the event.

This term, the Toorak College Ethics Olympiad Team competed against other schools to examine and respond to a range of case studies.

The students worked together to think critically about the problems and questions posed to them to present their views with clarity and logic.

Student Summer reflected, "This experience enabled us to really explore our personal beliefs in ethically debatable situations and consider specific boundaries and perspectives which can affect the morality of an action"

Well done to the team and all involved!

As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close, we are proud to share the reflections and artwork of our Prep students.

Following a Welcome to Country and collaborative art experience, our youngest learners explored what it means to be "All In" through conversations about Country, belonging and community.

Their artwork and reflections revealed three powerful themes: ❤️ Love, 🌿 Land and 👥 People.

💬 "My world shows that I love everybody."

💬 "I drew a sunflower to show that I feel connected."

💬 "I like people joining art around me."

Through curiosity, creativity and conversation our Prep students demonstrated that reconciliation begins with understanding, inclusion and learning from one another.

🧜‍♀️🐠⭐ "Dreams can come true" - Our students proved just that with their remarkable performances ⭐🐠🧜‍♀️

Our Grade 6 students made a splash with The Little Mermaid Jr. musical production. Audiences were left wanting more with students energised and excited for the shows to arrive after months of rehearsals and planning.

All students were involved in the production either backstage or onstage, and came together to entertain our community over three shows in May.

Ms Sasha Fritchley, Toorak College Grade 6 teacher marvelled "It was amazing to witness the transformation of these wonderful students and see their confidence grow from the very first rehearsals to what they produced onstage, they should all be very proud as are all of the staff involved" 🩵

Congratulations to all involved! 👏👏

🖤💛❤️ National Reconciliation Week 2026 🖤💛❤️

This morning, our students gathered for a Smoking Ceremony to mark the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2026.

Our Junior School Captains, students reflected on this year’s theme, 'All In' - a message centred on unity, inclusion, shared responsibility and walking forward together. Students were encouraged to consider how each of us can be “all in” through respect, reconciliation and building a future grounded in understanding, connection and community.

We were honoured to welcome Uncle Shane and Jacinta from the Bunurong Land Council to Toorak College for this morning's Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country, acknowledging the land on which we live, learn and gather each day.

Throughout the week, students in Wardle House will continue exploring the significant events, voices and moments that have shaped Australia’s reconciliation journey through assemblies, wellbeing activities and learning experiences. Our Senior School students will continue these important conversations and commemorations next week.
