Our Cockburn students have been putting their skills into practice as part of CHCECE036 – Provide Experiences to Support Children's Play and Learning.

Students designed and implemented a range of engaging learning environments for their peers to explore, applying their knowledge of play-based learning and intentional teaching strategies. Through observing participation and engagement, they reflected on the effectiveness of their experiences and considered how the outcomes aligned with—or differed from—their original plans.

This hands-on activity encouraged critical reflection, creativity, and adaptability while building a deeper understanding of how thoughtfully designed learning environments can support children's play, engagement, and learning outcomes.💚

As part of unit CHCECE037 – Support children to connect with the natural environment, our Baldivis students have been showcasing their creativity and innovation by designing and creating sensory boards using recycled materials! ♻️

Using a variety of everyday recycled items, students explored how to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that support children’s sensory development, curiosity, problem-solving skills, and fine motor development. From different textures and colours to interactive elements, each sensory board was thoughtfully designed with children’s learning and development in mind.

This practical activity also encouraged students to reflect on the importance of sustainability within early childhood education and how recycled materials can be transformed into valuable learning resources. It was wonderful to see students collaborating, sharing ideas, and applying their knowledge in a hands-on and creative way.

Activities like these help prepare our future educators to create inclusive, engaging, and environmentally conscious learning environments for children. 💚

Our Victoria Park students recently had the wonderful opportunity to engage with the local community playgroup at the 🌈🌳

As part of this experience, students planned, developed, and facilitated a range of meaningful activities for children focused on diversity, inclusivity, belonging, creativity, culture, curiosity and positivity. Through hands-on learning and collaborative play, our students created welcoming environments where every child felt valued, respected, and encouraged to express themselves.

It was fantastic to see our students build strong community connections while putting their skills into practice and promoting positive outcomes for children and families.

The students in Mirrabooka came together to create a beautiful Diversity Garden as part of the unit CHCECE030 – Support Inclusion and Diversity in the Workplace.

This meaningful activity celebrated the rich multiculturalism and diversity within our classroom. Working collaboratively, each student contributed their own unique ideas and created a special part of the garden, which was then combined to form one vibrant and meaningful display.

It was inspiring to see the students embrace one another’s differences and recognise the value that diversity brings to both the classroom and the workplace. Through teamwork, creativity, and shared understanding, they created something truly special.

We also engaged in a thoughtful discussion about what our flowers and Diversity Garden represent as a class as a whole — unity, inclusion, respect, and the beauty of individuality coming together as one.

The final result is a colourful and heartfelt reflection of the diverse, inclusive, and supportive learning environment we continue to build together. 💚

Our Clarkson students recently engaged in a meaningful, hands-on learning experience as part of the unit CHCECE054 – Encourage understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures.

Students planned and implemented play invitations designed to foster children’s understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. Through this experience, they explored ways to embed culture authentically within Early Childhood Education environments, supporting children’s connection to land, community, and identity.

It was wonderful to see the collaboration, thoughtful reflection, and active engagement from all students throughout this learning journey. Their creativity and commitment to culturally responsive practice was truly inspiring.

A great step forward in building inclusive and culturally rich early learning environments.

🌿 Learning Beyond the Classroom! 🌿

This week our Ellenbrook students took their learning outdoors, immersing themselves in the natural environment and discovering the world through exploration and curiosity.

From observing local plants and animals to investigating natural resources, students embraced every moment—collecting a variety of natural materials along the way.

Back in the classroom, the real magic happened! Using their collected treasures, students designed and created their own engaging learning activities—practical, meaningful, and ready to be used in their workplaces.

This hands-on experience supports their learning in CHCECE037 – Support children to connect with the natural environment, equipping them with the skills and confidence to inspire children to explore, respect, and care for the world around them. 🌱💚
