Such a special moment this week at Parliament House in Victoria, bringing together our hub leaders and participants for a morning tea during sitting week.
It meant a lot to hear Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Ingrid Stitt MP, recognise the impact of this work:
“The hubs model is very precious in culturally diverse Victoria – we are very proud of all the work you do in the hubs.”
And to then hear Natalie Suleyman MP reflect on the power of these spaces:
“Community hubs illustrate what can be achieved by creating a community environment in a school.”
This recognition belongs to the 41 primary school communities across Victoria with a community hub — safe, welcoming places where families from culturally diverse backgrounds connect with one another, build confidence, join playgroups, learn and practise English together, and so much more.
We are grateful to Minister Stitt and Minister Suleyman for taking the time to engage with our hubs and to know and understand the difference hubs make.

To recognise Refugee Week, we came together to learn, share stories, celebrate culture, and enjoy food from around the world.
Each of us has a unique journey that led us to call Australia home. Today was a reminder that our differences make our community stronger, and that every story matters. 🇦🇺❤️

Each Monday the Community Hub runs a “Garden Club” for our students, which is run on a voluntary basis by a committed school parent and myself.
For kids, time in the garden can mean a safe haven, opportunities to forge new friendships, and a connection to nature, as well as a friendly and supportive listener.
So, when we say we are gardening, we are not just gardening 🧑🌾🥕🥦 🍎

Wanting to complete a first aid course ?
The Local Jobs Local People Program is running one July 15th
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid course
Sydenham Neighbourhood House - Taylors Lakes, VIC
Wednesday, July 15 • 9 AM - 4:30 PM
Nationally recognised First Aid training for construction, covering emergencies, injuries and AED use for safer workplaces.
The HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid course is designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence to respond to medical emergencies and administer first aid in civil construction environments until professional medical assistance arrives. This comprehensive course includes both theoretical and practical components, delivered in line with the latest Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
Participants will learn how to perform CPR, use an AED (defibrillator), and manage injuries commonly encountered on construction sites, such as cuts, burns, fractures, crush injuries, and sprains. The course also covers how to respond to a range of medical emergencies including asthma, anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, heat-related illness, and shock. Additional training includes legal responsibilities, infection control, incident reporting, and how to assess and manage emergency situations while maintaining site safety.
This course is delivered through blended learning, with online theory completed prior to attending a one-day, face-to-face practical session. The hands-on training uses realistic civil construction scenarios to ensure participants develop the confidence and capability to respond effectively in high-risk work environments.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid. This certificate is valid for three years, with CPR (HLTAID009) recommended to be refreshed annually to meet civil construction compliance requirements.
This certification is essential for designated first aiders, supervisors, and safety personnel working on civil construction sites, including roadworks and infrastructure projects. It is a critical component of workplace health and safety, ensuring workers are prepared to respond quickly and effectively to incidents and emergencies on-site.
