Celebrating life and milestones are wonderful. Usually the big things capture a lot of the attention but we also must take notice of the small wins too. Encouraging a persistence to keep trying, to keep looking for further opportunity, to keep striving for a difference.
Today my family said farewell to our dear Uncle Johnnie, Dads eldest brother at the ripe old age of 101 (3 weeks short of 102). A man of strong loyalty, commitment to family and a deep passion to life on the land. He enjoyed traveling, bringing trinkets and stories from a far. He loved cricket, AFL, golf and athletics. He served his community volunteering and being on committees, racking up numerous recognitions and awards.
As children we loved our Christmas’ together with cousins, aunts, uncles and Nan, jammed around the enormous table, with the floor being completely covered in wrapping paper. Later in life he didn’t bother to take down the Christmas tree as he explained that way he’d always be ready for Christmas the following year!
He was always kind and interested in what I did and would always ask me about my time in London. He had many names for me over the years: Barbie, Rogers, Kate, rascal, urchin - always with generous offers of some whiskers and double whammy’s. All of these were his sign of love.
Uncle Johnnie was a man who didn’t demand attention, he quietly got on with what needed doing. He noticed the small things, encouraged the detail, he inspired the thought to dream and step out of your comfort zone.
For all of the above I am grateful.
Forever in our hearts.

40 years ago… um… yes 40, something significant happened! The under 16s C-grade netball team for won the premiership. 47-43 against arch rivals in an exciting grand final.
The Tigers win 🏆 came from dedication, commitment, persistence, focus, practice but also deep friendship, trust, loyalty, belief and community.
As a 14 year old goal shooter, I would go out every night to shoot my required 100 goals. Not just because my legendary coach Hosking said so, or that team needed it from me. I did it because I loved it. Like really loved it.
This time in the 1980s was everything for us as young teens. Fun. Fashion. Laughter. Big hair. Togetherness. Discovery. First boyfriend, first parties but also first taste of success and first understanding of self belief.
The core values of came from this time, from family, from this club. So many amazing people who provided coaching, mentoring, explicit instruction, guidance, feedback, repetition, sequential learning, high expectations, encouragement to keep pushing in search of success.
After 40 years this club still is celebrating the milestones of old, acknowledging the historical context for future generations, proving core values are the heart. To this club, coach and team I will forever feel grateful to have once been a part of. To have held the cup and the taste of success showed the young me anything was/is possible.
Go Tiges 💛🖤💛🖤💛
Thank you for such a great day 🙏

Many of you know we recently had a ‘scare’ with our patriarch, the legend, community man, Dad and beloved Pa. An ambulance was called, a night in hospital needed.
The very next morning, at 97 years, he walked out of hospital, not really bothered by the enormity by the disruption caused to those around him. Good job though and in so many ways we are so grateful it was this way. Laughable really.
The truly amazing local community rallied around-calls to check he was ok, dinners dropped off. The compassion and care prioritised. The sincere replies unanswerable. Except in Dads true form he wanted to write a letter.
“I would like to thank those involved with my medical “episode” last Saturday. Their support was greatly appreciated, with a special thanks to Alex for her attention.
I was discharged from hospital on Sunday and have been recovering well.
My plan is to see a few more matches this year Good luck for the rest of the season to all the teams.
I continue to be a proud supporter of the and look forward to my 80th year of continuous membership next year.
Sincere gratitude
Cliff Harrison
