অর্থনীতি বিজ্ঞানকেও গবেষনাগারে নিয়ে নোবেল জিতলেন বাঙালি অর্থনীতিবিদ প্রফেসর অভিজিত বিনায়ক বন্দোপাধ্যায়।

Prof. Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer are named this year's laureate for the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic science, for their contribution in "a new approach to obtaining reliable answers about the best ways to fight global poverty. In brief, it involves dividing this issue into smaller, more manageable, questions – for example, the most effective interventions for improving educational outcomes or child health. They have shown that these smaller, more precise, questions are often best answered via carefully designed experiments among the people who are most affected."
