The Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, United International University, extends its heartfelt congratulations to the UIU Mars Rover Team on securing 3rd Place Worldwide and 1st Place in Asia at the prestigious University Rover Challenge (URC) 2026, organized by The Mars Society, USA.

Competing against some of the world's leading engineering institutions, the team achieved an outstanding score of 400.44 points and earned the distinguished Best Autonomous System Recognition. This remarkable accomplishment marks the first time an Asian team has secured a podium position in the on-site University Rover Challenge and stands as a historic milestone for Bangladesh.

The success of the UIU Mars Rover Team reflects the spirit of innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and scientific excellence that continues to inspire the entire UIU community.

We congratulate all team members, mentors, advisors, and supporters whose dedication and hard work made this achievement possible.

Your success has made Bangladesh proud and demonstrated the limitless potential of our young innovators.

As a part of the The “1st National Inter-School Biotechnology Quiz Competition”, the students of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering at United International University, hosted a workshop on Molecular Biology and Microbiology and lab visit session inside our fully equipped labs.

More than fifty schools from across the country participated in the event, reflecting the growing interest of young students in biotechnology and scientific education.

St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Dhaka emerged as the champion of the biotech quiz competition. The prize-giving ceremony was attended by renowned geneticist Dr. Abed Chowdhury as the chief guest. Our Departmental chairman Rafiq Sir and advisor of School of Life Science, UIU, Dr. Abdul Mazid sir was also present during the events.

This science-focused initiatives at the school level, is to inspire the next generation of researchers and innovators.
