The second edition of the ISB Platinum Jubilee Chess Championship concluded on a high note with enthusiastic participation from chess players across Bahrain. Organised by The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) in association with Arjun’s Chess Academy as part of the school’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the championship attracted talented players from various age groups and schools, making it one of the largest and most competitive chess events in the Kingdom.

In the Inter-School Under-14 Team Category, The New Indian School (NIS) emerged as champions. The winning team comprised Noel Abraham Punnoose, Sriram Palaniappan, Jairam Kannappan and Dhanashree Mohanraj. Bahrain Indian School (BIS) secured the runner-up position. The BIS team consisted of Arnav Singh Dewan, Trishan Moorkoth, Dhruv Trivedi and Gunjan Pal.

In the highly competitive Open Category, Rudra Desai was crowned champion. Dimitrios Dispinis secured second place, while Krishna Babu Lakshmanan (ISB) won third place, Aaryan Anil Jai Prabhakaran got fourth place. Aditya Venkataraman finished fifth

Manama: The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated the spirit of leadership, service, and responsibility with its Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2026-27 on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The solemn and inspiring occasion marked the formal induction of the school's student leaders across various levels, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and staff.

The ceremony was graced by ISB Hon.Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon.Secretary V. Rajapandian, Hon. Assistant Secretary & Member-Academics Ranjini Mohan, Hon. Nearly 150 Players Register for ISB@75 Chess Championship – 2nd Edition

The Indian School, Bahrain (ISB), in association with Arjun’s Chess Academy, is all set to host the ISB@75 Chess Championship – 2nd Edition on Friday, 12 June 2026 as part of the school’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The championship has already generated tremendous interest across the Kingdom, with approximately 150 players registering in the Open Category as of now. The Champion will receive USD 100, while the runner-up will be awarded USD 50 and the third-place winner will receive USD 25.

In the Inter-School Team Event, eight CBSE schools have confirmed their participation, reflecting the growing popularity of chess among students and the wider community. Special recognition and prizes will be awarded to outstanding performers across various categories, making the tournament an exciting platform for players of different age groups and skill levels.

In response to the overwhelming interest, the organisers have announced an extension of the registration deadline until Wednesday, 10 June 2026, providing additional opportunity for chess enthusiasts to join the event. The championship initiative is being spearheaded by ISB Hon. Vice Chairman and Hon. Member – Sports, Dr Mohammed Faizal,Convener Faisal Madappally and Coordinator Shamshad, whose efforts have played a key role in expanding the scope and reach of the event. Organisers believe that the second edition will further strengthen Bahrain’s chess culture while providing students and community members with a valuable opportunity to engage in healthy and meaningful competition.

Building on the remarkable success of last year’s championship, which recorded one of the highest participations in a chess event in Bahrain, this year’s edition is expected to be bigger, more competitive and more inclusive. The tournament aims to promote strategic thinking, concentration, discipline, analytical skills, decision-making and sportsmanship through one of the world’s most intellectually stimulating games.

The Junior Campus of The Indian School, Bahrain,(ISB) celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with great enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of protecting nature and preserving the environment for future generations.

Students of The Indian School, Bahrain (ISB) delivered an impressive performance at the BBSF–Powerjade Junior Bahrain Ranking Circuit 2, held from 29 to 31 May 2026 at Al Nasser Club, Juffair. The tournament, sanctioned by the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF), attracted some of the most talented junior badminton players from across the Kingdom.
