This week, children explored Canadian landscapes, where we live in Alberta, and the different landforms around us — from mountains and rivers to forests, prairies, rocks, animals, and nature.

🧸 Explorers (18mo–3yrs) — Explored land and water sensory play, built mountains with playdough, sorted rocks by size and texture, listened to Canadian animal sounds, and created nature collages using items found outside.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Created simple maps of Alberta, learned about mountains, prairies, rivers, and Calgary, explored nature art, and used hands-on activities to understand the land around them.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Learned facts about Alberta, compared mountains, prairies, forests, rivers, and lakes, practised L for Land, and strengthened early research, drawing, discussion, and observation skills.

Our May theme is “Amazing Community Helpers” — and Week 4 was all about People Who Teach & Deliver! ✉️🚌📖

This week, children learned about teachers, mail carriers, bus drivers, librarians, and the important helpers who teach, guide, deliver, and support our communities every day.

🧸 Explorers (18mo–3yrs) — Enjoyed mail delivery play ✉️, scribbled letters, delivered envelopes to friends, explored community helper props, and used blocks to build schools, libraries, and community spaces.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Created thank-you cards for community helpers, role-played mailing letters and riding the bus 🚌, and practised sorting helpers by the ways they support families and children.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Practised saying and beginning to write their address, explored the role of teachers, librarians, mail carriers, and bus drivers, and completed simple Victoria Day learning through discussion and craft activities 👑

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Built bridges using craft materials, explored community helper sorting, learned how tools help people work, and connected learning to Asian Heritage Month through simple cultural exploration and discussion.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Went on a simple machines hunt, explored wheels, ramps, and levers, practised problem-solving through building challenges, and discussed how builders and fixers help our everyday lives.

🧸 Explorers (18mo–3yrs) — Enjoyed stethoscope play 🩺, practiced bandaging stuffed animals, explored doctor and nurse pretend play, and made Mother’s Day cards for special caregivers 💐

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Built a pretend hospital, created x-ray art with cotton swabs, role-played doctor visits, and made thoughtful Mother’s Day gifts through hands-on creativity.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Learned about nurses and healthcare helpers, practiced N for Nurse and H for Helper ✏️, explored heartbeat counting, and used discussion and pretend play to understand how we care for ourselves and others.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Started their seed journals 📓, made butterfly life cycles out of pasta 🦋, learned the parts of a plant with a song 🎵, and sorted living vs. non-living things 🔍!

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Plant experiment logs with predictions 🧪, graphing different types of seeds 📊, practising letters G for Grow and E for Earth ✏️, and learning about community helpers who help things grow 👩‍🌾!
