Nicholas Wilson Public School Alumni, 70s and 80s

Hey NW Warriors. I expected about 10-20 people tonight at the small open house I ran at the school and my guess was correct. It was so fun to walk the hallways with six from my grad class: Todd Webster, Jodi Slade, Tanya Marriot, Kim Kelly, Sandra Arthur. Steve Colquhoun. Tracey Kelly, Jodi Parkington , Darren Grieve and Joey Archibald also joined us, along with 1991 grad Sonny and 1994 grad Brent.
Put 2020-21 on your mental calendar for a 50th reunion!

Thank you Katherine Wilson, Jen, Kim, Dean for organizing such a wonderful evening! We started at the school, just outside the "grade 7 & 8 door" talking and laughing and connecting. We then moved to Tiger Jacks for the rest of the night. They did a great job in getting about 13 staff from the 1970s to attend and honouring them with kind words and flower. Very touching and thoughtful! Special to me was Mrs. Caldwell, my grade 5 teacher for a few weeks before they created the split class that I would be a part of for 3 years. Mrs. Stilson, my grade 2 teacher, who spent 23 years at NW and thus everyone out there knows. Mrs. Dinel (Elaine), the long time secretary of the school in the 70s and 80s. Ruth Hay, the long time librarian. Mrs Jackson, who taught the other grade 2 class. Madame Chamberlin, who taught the grades a little older than me and was the French teach before Madame Lalonde. Katherine's group from 1979-80 was well represented but I would love to do this again next year or the year after and really push for more 1980s alumni to get out. I stayed till midnight laughing and catching up. It was inspiring. "See some old friends ... good for the soul" as Bob Seger would say.

I don't recall anything about this man, or, what his message was. BUT, it was a surprise to find this in a collection of NW memories. The outfit and the name ... it will never leave you. He seems to command a presence that had the kids attention and wanting to shake his hand afterwards. Thank you Captain Wonderlong, thank you for visiting our school.

Hi Alumni! It's Andrew Thibodeau, class of 1984 and proud Warrior! With two children at NW, the school continues to be a big part of my life.
