From a summer scholarship search to becoming Meadowridge’s first-ever recipient of the Schulich Leader Scholarship.
Congratulations to Drake Wiggins-Martignago ’26 on receiving the Schulich Leader Scholarship, valued between $100,000 and $120,000, Canada’s most prestigious undergraduate STEM scholarship. Each year, from a pool of over 350,000 graduating high school students, more than 1,300 are nominated, but only 100 outstanding recipients are selected to receive the award.
For Drake, the scholarship stood out because it aligned with who he is: a student passionate about STEM, leadership, innovation, and creating real-world impact. “I’ve always made an effort not to let academics define me. People often say, ‘You’re so smart,’ but I dislike that; I’d rather let my hard work define me.” Drake credits the support of his teachers, mentors, and the Meadowridge community for helping him through the process, particularly Ms. Wenqing Chen and Ms. Jennifer Higginson. Drake was also a recipient of the Meadowridge Head of School Bursary, which allowed him to attend Meadowridge from grade 9 to 12, with full tuition covered for four years.
As he prepares for university, this scholarship not only recognizes his achievements but also provides the freedom to pursue his goals with greater confidence and fewer financial barriers. Congratulations, Drake. We can’t wait to see where your hard work, curiosity, and leadership take you next.

For the first time, our entire school community came together to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day through learning, storytelling, creativity, and connection.
Following an opening assembly led by Lilly Cunningham, students explored a variety of interactive stations across campus, including Indigenous games, beading, weaving, storytelling, drumming, lacrosse, land-based learning, Three Sisters planting, and student-led presentations on Inuit communities.
A special thank you to our Indigenous Education Coordinator, Ms. Charlene Smoke, whose guidance, leadership, and dedication helped make this meaningful day possible.
Thank you to our students, staff, and community members who shared their knowledge and helped create a day of learning, reflection, and appreciation for Indigenous cultures, histories, and ways of knowing.

From seed to sale, our Middle School students turned learning into impact.
Today, students presented a cheque for $10,665 to the Friends In Need Food Bank—funds raised through this year’s Meadowridge Farmers Market. Through the Explorations Program, students planned, created, marketed, and sold products, all while supporting an important local cause.
Thank you to everyone who attended, purchased items, and helped make this incredible contribution possible. Together, we’re growing more than gardens—we’re growing community.

Three days of learning beyond the classroom. 🌊⛵️🌿
Our Grade 9 students recently travelled to Victoria for an immersive field study that brought their Science and Humanities curriculum to life.
From investigating marine ecosystems and environmental challenges at the Salish Sea Centre, exploring microplastics and carbon cycling at the University of Victoria, and learning about the endangered Garry Oak ecosystem at Fort Rodd Hill, students gained a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of our natural world.
They also stepped into history through hands-on experiences at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse, sailing lessons at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, a historical tour of Ross Bay Cemetery, and an evening exploring the stories and resilience of Victoria’s Chinatown.
Through inquiry, exploration, and experiential learning, students connected classroom concepts to the people, places, and environments that continue to shape British Columbia today.

From our youngest performers in Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten to our talented Grade 5 students, last week’s Elementary Music Showcase was a celebration of creativity, confidence, and joy.
The audience was treated to everything from the steady rhythms of marimba performances to musical theatre favourites and a Disney extravaganza. Each student brought their own energy and personality to the stage, showcasing the growth, collaboration, and courage that music inspires.
A special thank you to Ms. Swords for creating opportunities for every child to shine, and to the many staff, volunteers, and helpers who made this memorable performance possible.
Swipe through to see some of the highlights.
