Aircraft emissions could double air pollution deaths by 2040
Scenario-based modeling projects that aviation-related air pollution could drive a major rise in premature deaths by 2040, mainly through PM2.5 and ozone exposure. The study estimates that aircraft emissions caused 33,900 PM2.5-related deaths and 24,600 ozone-related deaths in 2019, with baseline 20...

Implanted collagen tiles double survival for brain metastasis patients
A multicenter clinical trial led by researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has found that implanting collagen tiles during brain surgery to deliver targeted radiation therapy dramatically improved tumor control, lowered the risk of recurrence and improved overall survival compared to current standard of care for patients with newly diagnosed brain metastases in need of surgical resection.

Researchers discover how overpopulation reduces fertility
Scientists have reported it for decades: Overpopulation can impair reproduction.
Crowded chickens lay fewer eggs. Crowded mice have smaller broods. In humans, several studies have associated increased population density with reduced fertility.
External factors, such as resource scarcity and social influences, undoubtedly play a role. But researchers have long suspected that intrinsic, biological mechanisms may also be at play as an evolutionary tool to keep populations in check.
