من السنة النبوية كان محمد ﷺ يقوم الليل حتى تتورم قدماه، فقيل له: أتفعل هذا وقد غفر الله لك ما تقدم من ذنبك وما تأخر؟ فقال: «أفلا أكون عبدًا شكورًا» (رواه البخاري ومسلم).

From the Prophetic Sunnah:
Muhammad (PBUH) used to stand in prayer at night until his feet became swollen. It was said to him, “Do you do this while Allah has forgiven your past and future sins?”
He replied, “Should I not be a grateful servant?”
(Narrated by Muhammad al-Bukhari and Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj)

، قال تعالى: {قُل لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا فُرُوجَهُمْ ذَٰلِكَ أَزْكَىٰ لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ}
[النور: 30].

غض البصر هو كف العين عن النظر إلى المحرمات أو ما يثير الشهوة، ويشمل ذلك النساء الأجنبيات، العورات، وعورات البيوت، وهو واجب شرعي للرجال والنساء. يعتبر من أعظم الطاعات وأسباب حلاوة الإيمان، ويورث نوراً في القلب وبصيرةً، ويسد مداخل الشيطان.

Allah, the Exalted, says:
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their chastity. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what they do.”
— (Surah An-Nur, 24:30)

Lowering the gaze means restraining one’s eyes from looking at what is forbidden or what arouses desire. This includes looking at non-mahram women, private parts, and the privacy of people’s homes. It is a religious obligation for both men and women. It is considered one of the greatest acts of obedience and a cause of the sweetness of faith. It brings light to the heart, grants insight, and blocks the pathways of Satan.

عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال: "لا يدخل الجنة نمام"
(رواه البخاري ومسلم).

حذر النبي ﷺ بشدة من الغيبة والنميمة، معتبراً إياهما من كبائر الذنوب التي توجب عذاب القبر وتفرق بين الناس. عرّف النبي الغيبة بـ "ذكرك أخاك بما يكره"، والنميمة بنقل الحديث لإفساد القلوب، مؤكداً أن النمام لا يدخل الجنة، وأن عاقبة فاعلهما وخيمة في الدنيا والآخرة.

The Prophet (PBUH) said:
“A tale-bearer (one who spreads malicious gossip) will not enter Paradise.”
(Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.)

The Prophet strongly warned against backbiting and slander, considering them major sins that warrant the punishment of the grave and sow discord among people. The Prophet defined backbiting as "mentioning your brother in a way he dislikes," and slander as spreading gossip to corrupt hearts, emphasizing that the slanderer will not enter Paradise, and that the consequences for those who commit these acts are dire in this world and the Hereafter.
