The importance of music in a well-rounded education has been recognised by Ofsted. A new independent school, Kimichi is "ahead of the curve": a school for any child who plays or would like to play an instrument with no audition process. We cannot recommend this enough, having been lucky enough to take part in the workshop that Folktone did earlier this year….
Bring your dancing shoes!
Dear friends, family and parents,
Following an overwhelmingly positive response from pupils to the reintroduction of CAP, we're hoping some of you might be willing to help us make it even more exciting.
Do you have a hobby, skill, interest or passion that you could share with a small group of pupils for an hour one morning a week? The more unusual, the better! We're looking for people who can inspire curiosity, spark conversations and perhaps introduce our pupils to something they've never encountered before.
Have you always wanted to explain the finer points of bell ringing? Demonstrate the art of Morris dancing? Talk about beekeeping, astronomy, model railways, falconry, vintage radios, map-making, genealogy, juggling, pottery, fencing, cheese-making or anything else that makes people say, "Well, that's interesting!"? We would love to hear from you.
Sessions would run from 10.00–11.00am, three mornings per week, between 10 June and 22 July. We are dividing the programme into two three-week blocks, so if you can only commit to one block rather than the full period, that's absolutely fine.
You don't need to be a professional teacher or presenter (we’ll take care of the DBS checks), just someone who enjoys sharing an interest with enthusiastic young people. Our pupils particularly value meeting adults who are passionate about what they do, whether that's a lifelong hobby, a fascinating career, or an unusual skill.
If you think you might be able to help, or would like to find out more, please get in touch. We promise not to make you perform a Morris dance on arrival (unless, of course, that's what you're coming to teach).
Many thanks for considering it!
Best wishes,
Your Kimichi Team
