☀️ Staying Safe in the Heat ☀️
Hot weather can affect how some medicines work and how your body regulates temperature.
If you take medication for a mental health condition, including antipsychotics, lithium, certain antidepressants, antihistamines or anticholinergic medicines, you may be at greater risk of dehydration or overheating during periods of hot weather.
💧 If you take lithium, it’s especially important to stay well hydrated and drink fluids regularly.
If you’re concerned about how your medication may affect you in the heat, please speak to your clinician, GP or another healthcare professional for advice.
❗ Please do not stop taking prescribed medication without first speaking to your healthcare team.
For more advice on staying safe during hot weather, visit the NHS website.
