PE Subject Spotlight!
Day 3 of our PE Subject Spotlight highlights the exciting activities students have been taking part in this term. During this term, students have participated in a range of athletics events and striking and fielding sports, helping to develop their physical skills, teamwork, confidence and resilience. Through competition and practice, students have challenged themselves, supported their peers and continued to make excellent progress in PE.

Year 11 Leavers' Assembly!
Today we came together to celebrate the last five years of our Year 11 students' journey at Unity College. It was an opportunity to reflect on the memories, achievements and experiences that have shaped their time with us.
Students enjoyed heartfelt goodbyes from their form tutors, some fabulous entertainment that will leave them with one final special memory, and a wonderful baby photo video created by Sophia S, which brought plenty of smiles and laughter.
We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you and wish you all the very best for the future. Once part of the Unity family, always part of the Unity family!

PE Subject Spotlight!
Day 2 of our PE Subject Spotlight focuses on where PE can take you.
A passion for sport and physical activity can lead to a wide range of exciting careers, including teaching, coaching, sports therapy, physiotherapy, fitness instruction, sports journalism, nutrition, sports psychology and many more.
The skills developed through PE, such as teamwork, leadership, communication and resilience, are highly valued in all industries and can help students succeed in a variety of future pathways.

PE Subject Spotlight!
This week, we are shining the spotlight on the PE Department in our final Subject Spotlight of this academic year.
We are celebrating the fantastic achievements of our students this year, from county finals and cup victories to individual sporting success and leadership opportunities. Throughout the year, our students have represented Unity College with pride, determination and outstanding sportsmanship.
We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved both in and out of school and look forward to sharing more highlights throughout the week.

Technology Subject Spotlight
Year 11 students recently finalised their GCSE contextual challenge coursework, bringing together all the skills, knowledge and understanding they have developed throughout KS3 and KS4. Their knowledge of techniques, materials, processes, finishes and the design process is combined to create their final outcome and GCSE portfolio.
Meanwhile, in Food Technology, students have been creating pizzas from scratch, kneading dough, shaping bases and producing some very tasty final products. A brilliant showcase of the creativity, skill and dedication within the Technology Department. Well done to all our students!

Technology Subject Spotlight!
Year 10 students begin the year by designing and making a box, further developing their construction skills and knowledge. Through this project, they improve their measuring, accuracy and attention to detail while gaining experience with a wider range of tools, machinery and materials. In the final term, students begin working on their GCSE contextual challenge.
Meanwhile, in Food Technology, students created fruit flans and were challenged to focus on their presentation skills, producing some fantastic final products. Well done to all our students for their hard work and creativity!

Technology Subject Spotlight!
Year 9 students are constructing lights using cardboard, developing the skills needed for the development and prototyping stages of their GCSE coursework. Along the way, they are strengthening their design, problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
In Food Technology, Year 10 students have been practising their knife skills by jointing a chicken, helping them build confidence and precision in food preparation. Well done to all our students for their hard work and dedication!

On Friday morning, a group of students officially launched our Reading Mentoring Programme in the college library. The Year 7 students were delighted to meet their Year 10 mentors and eagerly began their reading journey together.
A breakfast was enjoyed by all, providing students with the opportunity to relax, chat, and build new friendships with their peers. There was a real buzz of excitement as mentors and mentees got to know one another and settled into the programme.
This week, students explored an extract from The Tell-Tale Heart, taking part in engaging book discussions designed to deepen their understanding of the text and strengthen their comprehension skills. It was fantastic to see students sharing ideas, asking thoughtful questions, and enjoying reading together in such a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

Technology Subject Spotlight
Year 8 students have been learning about levers and linkages while designing and building their own moving puppets. Through this project, they are gaining valuable experience using a range of tools and machinery, as well as learning about different surface finishes and how to apply them effectively.
Meanwhile, in Food Technology, students recently have been demonstrating their baking skills by producing some fantastic marble cakes. Well done to everyone involved!

Technology Subject Spotlight 🛠️🍴
This week sees the return of our Subject Spotlight, with a focus on the Technology Department.
Our Year 7 students are currently working on their Pen Pot project, which introduces them to good workshop practice, including health and safety, as well as how to use a range of tools, materials and equipment safely and effectively.
Meanwhile, our Year 8 students have been putting their practical cooking skills to the test by making delicious quiches, developing their food preparation, cooking and presentation techniques.
