Summer Showcase Update:
Unfortunately, due to the forecast temperature exceeding 30°C, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the Summer Showcase this evening.
This decision has not be made lightly due to the time and effort that has been put in by staff and pupils. However we have to ensure the wellbeing of our staff and pupils and to avoid extending the school day in such high temperatures.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

🏃♂️ District Sports Success! 🏅
Last week, our athletes took to UCLan for District Sports and put on an incredible display! 💪
Looking fantastic in their new vests, the team performed to an exceptionally high standard throughout the day—and we are proud to share an overall 2nd place finish!
🥈Our Year 10 boys were outstanding, securing gold in their age group and we won five out of the eight relays 🥇
There were some superb individual performances too:
👏 Stan M cleared an impressive 1.67m in the high jump
👏 Winnie L dominated the 1200m, winning by an incredible 20 seconds
The team created a brilliant atmosphere all day, full of competitiveness, smiles, and true Holy Cross community spirit ❤️

🌿 Outdoor Learning at Holy Cross 🌞
Mr Holliday made the most of the beautiful weather by taking Geography learning outside— bringing the subject to life in the best classroom of all! 🌍
We are incredibly lucky at Holy Cross Catholic High School to have such an expansive site and excellent facilities, including our very own fish pond 🐟—perfect for hands-on, engaging learning experiences.

We are incredibly proud of our 2026 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award cohort, who recently completed their qualifying expedition in the beautiful village of Barley, Lancashire, at the foot of Pendle Hill.
Over the weekend, 13 expedition groups independently navigated challenging routes through the countryside, putting their map-reading, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills to the test. Our pupils showed fantastic resilience and determination throughout, supporting one another to complete the expedition successfully. Thankfully, the weather was kind, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the experience and the stunning surroundings.
A huge thank you to for delivering and supporting the expedition element of the Bronze Award programme. Their organisation, expertise and encouragement made the weekend a great success—we look forward to working with them again next year!
With the expedition section now complete, pupils will continue working towards their Bronze Award by completing their volunteering, physical and skills sections over the coming months.
Well done to all involved—we are incredibly proud of your achievements so far and can’t wait to celebrate your full award completion! 👏✨
