We’re excited to be heading to the Royal Highland Show 2026 this week 🌿

The Lantra Scotland team is looking forward to connecting with industry partners, meeting future talent, and showcasing the important role skills and training play across Scotland’s land-based sectors.

Our first-ever Cereals event was one to remember 🌾

Alongside celebrating 60 years and launching our new look, we had the chance to connect with so many farmers, partners and future talent across the arable sector.

From insightful conversations shaping future training, to a real buzz on the stand (helped along by our Milwaukee and YETI prize giveaways 🎁), the energy across both days was incredible - despite the very British weather!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared their experiences, and contributed ideas, we’ve taken away plenty of inspiration for what comes next.

And of course, a special thanks to Claydon Drills for their support throughout the event 👏

Here’s to building skills, supporting careers, and shaping the future of the industry.

Our latest report, Shaping a Resilient Future, highlights just how critical land‑based industries are to the UK 🌱

Managing over 80% of the UK’s land, employing 625,000 people, and underpinning a £150bn agri‑food supply chain, the sector is central to food production, environmental sustainability and rural economies.

But growing pressures, from climate change and global supply chain risks to rapid technological change, are putting these industries under increasing strain.

The report makes it clear: investing in skills, training and workforce capacity is essential to build resilience, protect food security, and deliver on net zero and nature recovery ambitions.

Lantra is delighted to be contributing to a major new professional development programme for Further Education staff, delivered through a consortium led by the Association of Colleges and coordinated by the Skills Federation.

This government-funded initiative will strengthen the capability and confidence of teachers and trainers delivering technical and vocational education: including T Levels and emerging V Levels.

As a sector skills body rooted in the land-based and environment industries, Lantra will bring an employer-led perspective, helping ensure teaching reflects current industry standards, technologies and workforce needs.

Our focus will be on supporting Further Education staff to better understand real-world sector requirements, particularly across land-based provision, so learners are equipped with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed.

This collaboration is a strong example of sector expertise and education coming together, helping to bridge the gap between learning and employment, and strengthening the future workforce.

We look forward to working alongside partners across the consortium to make a meaningful impact for educators, employers and learners alike.
