Year 2 have had a fantastic week of learning!
In English, we have started our exciting new book, ‘Dear Earth’. The children have loved exploring the story and making predictions about what might happen next. They also created maps to show the journey the little girl wanted to take, using clues from the text to support their ideas.
In maths, we have been developing our understanding of positional language. The children have been learning to use and apply vocabulary such as clockwise, anti-clockwise, quarter turn, half turn and full turn, as well as describing directions using left, right, forwards and backwards. They then put their skills to the test by programming Bee-Bots to follow routes, carefully using positional language to guide them to their destinations.
We are so proud of the enthusiasm and creativity shown by Year 2 this week!

What a fantastic week Year 2 have had!
In Maths, we used Bee-Bots to practise giving and following directions. The children explored concepts such as left and right turns, as well as clockwise and anticlockwise movements, while developing their problem-solving skills.
In History, we began our exciting new topic, The General. The children enjoyed discussing what they already know and asking questions about what they would like to find out.
In English, we were introduced to our new class book, Dear Earth. The children made thoughtful predictions about the story and then created maps to show the different places visited by the main character, Tessa. We are looking forward to continuing our journey through this wonderful book.

Poplar have had a lovely week so far. In English, I have been incredibly impressed with Year 1’s remarkable writing. They have thoroughly enjoyed writing a letter in role as Stanley’s stick, writing about his adventures after being thrown in the sea! 🌊In PE, we have been playing games practising our controlled dribbling skills using a racket and a ball. 🏓We had to avoid the teacher monster’s who could steal the ball and stay away from the monster caves! In maths, we are now working within 100 and have been comparing amounts. The crocodile eats the bigger number. 🐊Keep up the amazing work Poplar, I am so proud of you all! ❤️

🐛⭐️ Reception had a wonderful time going on a minibeast hunt outside around our nature areas. The children carefully searched for different minibeasts and were excited to discover a variety of creatures. We talked about the different features of the minibeasts we found, including how many legs they had, whether they could fly and if they had a shell. 🐝⭐️
