Our students have officially begun their South Africa adventure!

On Wednesday, Construction, Computing and Early Years students set off on their Turing Scheme UK trip to South Africa, where they will be working with our partner, Gap Africa Projects.

This incredible opportunity will allow them to gain hands on experience, develop new skills, and immerse themselves in a completely different culture.

We’re so proud to see them representing us internationally and can’t wait to hear all about their journey!

SERC School of Built Environment SERC Computing and Engineering

We’re delighted to welcome Lisa Seitz from Berufsschule IV Augsburg Vocational College in Germany to SERC for a 6-week internship. Lisa is the second student from the college to join us as part of our growing international collaboration.

During her placement, Lisa will gain hands-on experience across our International Department, SU and Marketing team.

This placement gives Lisa the chance to build practical skills in an international setting, and we look forward to supporting her during her time at SERC.

As his incredible Study USA journey comes to a close, we’re celebrating SERC student Kacper Szewczyk and all he has achieved over the past year.

Kacper, from Ballynahinch, was selected for the prestigious British Council Study USA programme and has spent the past academic year studying at Arcadia University in Pennsylvania.

During his time in the US, Kacper has embraced American college life, developed valuable skills, and gained experiences that will support his future career in cloud computing.

We’re incredibly proud of everything Kacper has accomplished and look forward to welcoming him back to SERC soon!

A group of Media students recently travelled to Tenerife as part of the Turing Scheme UK gaining invaluable industry experience in a stunning global setting.

Hosted by FU International Academy Tenerife, students took part in a study placement where they developed their creative and technical skills, collaborated on real-world media projects, and experienced working in an international environment.

Well done to everyone involved and thank you to our partners for hosting such a fantastic experience!

Today we celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity!

At SERC, our strength comes from our diverse community — different cultures, perspectives and experiences.

Inclusion is about making everyone feel respected, heard and that they belong.

Staff are currently taking part in our international teaching placement at Pinghu Vocational and Technical College in China.

Large lecture theatres, a new teaching style, and a 7-hour time difference pushed our staff out of their comfort zone and redefined how they engage students.

With supportive teaching assistants and enthusiastic students, the experience quickly became a valuable and enjoyable opportunity for growth, collaboration, and cultural exchange.

We’re delighted to secure a British Council grant through their programme for an exciting new International Skills Partnership with South Africa.

The project focuses on Entrepreneurial Education, supporting female entrepreneurs to build resilience, confidence, and a more sustainable future.

We look forward to working with our South African partners and sharing updates as the project develops.
