Recently, our Level 2 Music students enjoyed a well-deserved visit to LJMU, making the most of the university’s newly installed recording facilities within the Engineering Department🎶

The students were divided into three bands, each performing an original song they had previously showcased at the Philharmonic Music Room as part of their final project. Throughout the day, groups rotated between multi-track recording sessions, podcast production, and creating sound and music for film clips🎤

With expert facilities the trip offered invaluable insight into professional music production and recording techniques.

Well done Level 2, we look forward to seeing you again next year!🤩

Our Geography A Level students recently visited three locations to practise data collection and experience their case studies in real life: Formby Sand Dunes, Salford Quays, and Liverpool City Centre🌍

🏖️ At Formby Sand Dunes, they studied coastal processes and ecosystem succession. Students collected data on dune profiles, vegetation distribution, and environmental conditions to understand how sand dunes develop and change over time, as well as the management strategies used to protect them.

At Salford Quays, they investigated urban regeneration and the social, economic, and environmental impacts of redevelopment. Through observations, questionnaires, and land-use surveys, they examined how a former industrial dockland area has been transformed into a modern commercial, residential, and cultural hub. This was compared with Pendleton, an area that has experienced far less regeneration. 🏙️

In Liverpool City Centre, students carried out environmental quality surveys, pedestrian counts, and land-use mapping. They explored how different parts of the city vary in terms of function, accessibility, and the quality of the urban environment.

Despite the rain, the students had a fantastic time and worked exceptionally well throughout the trip!
