USC Viterbi alumna Alice Gast, (B.S. ChE ’80), an esteemed and globally recognized chemical engineering researcher and first woman president of both Imperial College London and Lehigh University, passed away on Oct. 27 in London after long battle with cancer. She was 67.

You may not recognise architect John Parkinson’s name, but you will surely recognise the buildings he designed at USC. Parkinson imagined the Bovard Administration Building, the Gwynn Wilson Student Union, Town and Gown, and other Romanesque Revival structures built at the university in the 1920s and 1930s.
