The Giraffe Who Wanted New Shoes
Every morning in Sunny Safari Park, Gerry the Giraffe woke up with one big complaint:
“My feet are too boring!”
While the zebras had stripes, the parrots had rainbow feathers, and the lions had amazing manes, Gerry had… long legs and plain hooves. One day, Gerry decided enough was enough. He trotted into the park’s lost-and-found box and stuck his long neck inside.
After rummaging through hats, broken sunglasses, and a suspicious banana, he found something magical: a shiny pair of red sneakers.
He wiggled his giant giraffe feet into them and stood tall.
“Oh yes! I look fabulous!” he declared, posing like a runway model.
The other animals gasped.
Zelda the Zebra said, “Gerry, you look like you’re going jogging!”
Larry the Lion laughed, “Don’t trip over your own neck!”
Ignoring them, Gerry strutted all over the park… until the sneakers squeaked loudly with every step. SQUEAK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK! The monkeys laughed so hard they fell out of the trees.
Embarrassed, Gerry tried running away from the noise — but the faster he ran, the louder it squeaked. Finally he stopped, panting.
He looked at his feet and said, “Maybe plain hooves weren’t so bad.”
But the animals smiled and said, “At least you tried something new!”
