We’re currently recruiting Head Cooks for our upcoming climbing festival! Could this be you? 👀🧑‍🍳👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 Role includes planning and prepping meals, and leading the cooking team. In exchange you get a free festival ticket!

🔗Read the link in bio for more details!

Below we reflect on volunteering at at the first iteration of our climbing festival.

✨✨✨

Our festival worked because of everyone that worked to make it happen. Thank you to everyone on the organising team who spent their time to make sure everything ran smoothly throughout the weekend!

Wanderers of Colour is 100% run by volunteers. Volunteering is a key tenet of everything we do. All attendees volunteer their time to make the festival happen:

🚐 Minibus driver shuttled climbers around the Peak District,

🍳 Kitchen volunteers woke up early to prepare breakfasts and were the last to eat in the evening after making dinner.

🧽 Many volunteers helped to wash dishes after every meal, including Arun from

🧙🏽‍♂️ Gear gurus including .fred in the gear hub made sure the appropriate size of harness, helmet, and shoes were chosen all while keeping track of who was borrowing what and explaining how to use them for those new to the gear,

🥾 Hiking leads such as and ran hikes and informal walks around the area, and

🚮 Litter pickers helped to keep spaces tidy and leave no trace.

Thank you to everyone for helping to make the festival happen, we couldn’t have done it without you!

As a small thank you, we were able to send all festival go-ers home with a goodie bag full of treats and a few lucky winners with raffle prizes thanks to donations from: .equipment, , , , , , , , , , , and .

We kicked off the spring season with a lovely hike through Epping Forest in March, on the Loughton Circular Trail. 🌳

We were lucky to have sunshine and blue skies, making it the perfect day to explore the trail together. The woodland paths took us along tranquil ponds and streams, up towards a sunny hilltop lunch break.

It was great seeing our community members connecting and enjoying a relaxed walking pace. Some birdwatching and wildlife spotting was done along the way. 🐦

A big thank you to everyone who joined us on the day!
