We’re putting learners in control of their car driving test bookings 🚘

If you’ve got a booking or you’ll be looking for a test soon, make a note of these dates 📅

31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking

12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes

9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres

By changing who can book car and change driving tests, we’re aiming to reduce the re-selling of driving tests, giving the power back to learners 💪

📢 Remember that from tomorrow (31 March), you will only be able to make 2 changes to a car driving test booking.

A change counts as:
✅ changing the date or time
✅ changing the test centre
✅ swapping your appointment with another learner who has a test booked

If you need to make more changes after you have used your 2 changes, you will need to cancel your test and book a new one.

If you’re driving in icy or snowy weather conditions, remember to pack an emergency kit. Doing so means that you’ll be better prepared if you get stuck or if your vehicle breaks down.

You may want to pack:
- de-icer
- an ice scraper
- a torch
- warm clothing and boots
- a first aid kit
- jump leads
- a shovel

❄️ Take great care and drive extremely carefully.

More than 1,500 car driving tests a week go to waste. 📝

That’s the work of over 40 driving examiners.

Some are lost because the person that booked it didn’t show up.

❌ If you can’t make your test, cancel it.

✅ Somebody else might be able to use it, even at short notice. https://www.gov.uk/cancel-driving-test

Thinking of modifying your car?

Companies adding a disclaimer or getting you to sign a waiver is not enough to make the deal legal.
Vehicles must also be transported appropriately afterwards and not driven on the road.🚫

That’s the verdict handed to Onyx Performance Ltd after it could not show that a vehicle it modified would not be used on a public road.

They were convicted and ordered to pay a total penalty of £5,800. 💷

If you arrange for your vehicle to be modified like this, you’ll need to be able to show how you plan to move the vehicle once the work has been done. ⚠️
