This weekend marks the end of the Childcare & Education Expo. Exhibiting alongside some incredible early years brands , retailers and services and meeting SO many fantastic early years practitioners, nursery & primary school staff and businesses.

It was great to meet some of the team from opposite us and to have a quick catch up with the wonderful

Favourite moment? We had a mum and dad visit our stand to check out our range. It turns out they had bought EVERYTHING from our educational range and were our biggest fan. They had been looking for resources to support their child, who is neurodiverse, and had found nothing that even compares to our packs. It is one of the reasons why we specifically design our early years range to be minimalist design to avoid distraction and help focus, but the font we use is specifically chosen to support dyslexic thinking.

🤔 Why do we start with SATPIN in Phonics?

If you’ve started your phonics journey, you have probably come across the term ‘SATPIN’. If your little one is yet to hit this milestone, then by reading this you are a step ahead…

The 6 letters S-A-T-P-I-N are among the most common used in the English language, which makes a clear starting point of the first letters for children to learn. The fantastic thing about these 6 letters is that, because they are the most common, they can be combined together to create a number of simple words, just by blending these letter sounds (or phonemes) together.

For example, the letters can be combined to create many simple words, like "sit", "pan", "pat", "pin", "tip", "tap", and "ant" to name a few. This is known as ‘Sound Blending’. These word ideas, and many more, are included within Happy Little Doers Phonics Activity Flashcards pack.

Once there is a strong grasp for these letters, more sounds can be integrated, which empowers children to learn more phonemes, create more words and start to build a love of the English language!

Now, A TIP FOR THE PARENTS! Phonics can feel a little strange for parents as it’s a relatively new introduction to teaching speech and language within Early Years Education. We include a pronunciation card that is particularly important for ensuring that sounds like ‘p’ are sounded out without adding ‘-uh’ on the end ‘p-uh’. We’ve also included some very simplified and easy-to-read guidance, on terminology and what to expect from phonics, so it doesn’t feel too overwhelming!

We are thrilled to announce that our Junior Baker Activity Cards have won Silver🥈at the Junior Design Awards 2024 for Best Creative Play (Educational).

For those not familiar with what our Junior Baker Activity Cards do, they have been designed to help children understand money by running their own bakery. The cards can be used for kids as young as 3 to play role play, up to 10 years to help children learn how to bake and become an little entrepreneur.

What better way to understand the value of money by baking? Shop, make, and sell simple recipes through role play, or make the recipes at home featured in the pack.

The pack features 2 sets of wipeable cards; 6 Recipe Cards and 10 Ingradient Cards. The recipe cards list each of the ingredients, measurements and instructions to make each recipe whilst the ingredient cards give a handy little reference to help children understand measurement costs. The drywipe cards let children work out the cost of the recipe by referring to the ingredient card to work out the costing

Use the ‘Coin Stacker’ to find out how much you have saved, use the recipe cards to work out your ingredients, what it costs to make and how much you can sell each recipe for.

So, what happened in 2023?

🚀 We launched 9 BRAND NEW products this year - including our Space, Yoga and ever popular Junior Baker Activity Flashcards. Plus a new addition to our Tricky Words & Accessories (scroll to see!)

🏆We are incredibly proud to have been finalists in 2 categories in this years awards 2023 for our Sensory Flashcards and STEM Educational Range. We are also pleased to share that we have been rewarded the Toymark from

🎓 Our range is now being used in schools! We are pleased to share that our products, both curricular and theme range are now being used within schools. We have had fantastic feedback and hope to see the range introduced to more schools in 2024

So apparently the period between Christmas and New Year is known as the 'Crimbo Limbo'... trying to work out what day it is, discovering whether the shops or soft plays are open. Its all a bit of a blur! Therefore it's a particular time when the kids need a little bit more entertaining and support but also an opportunity to plan ahead for both your and your childrens goals in the New Year.

🧁 4 to 6 Years - Get Baking - The pack features 6 delicious easy baking recipes that you can do at home, including pancakes and banana bread. Use the back of the recipe card to discover what ingredients you need to make that recipe and follow the simple steps.

🧁 6 to 8 Years - How much is the recipe? - When making your recipe, use the ingredient cards to find the cost. Use a wipeable marker to write the cost next to the ingredient on the wipeable recipe card.
