KOI SWIM SCHOOL

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I know how to celebrate my Little & Big Champions' achievements, but I often struggle to celebrate my own.
I finally took a few days to breathe and pause to reflect on what actually happened and what it means to me.

Since winning the STA Swimming Teacher of the Year award, I've been poured with love (lots of love!), hugs, happy screams, joy, pride and amazing chats. Sharing this incredible moment with so many of you made it even more special - it still brings tears to my eyes!

This year also marks my 18th anniversary since I qualified as a swimming teacher. I must say, winning this award has marked the year with a bang and lifted me up more than I ever expected.

I’m still trying to process this... I WON!!!

Last night, I was awarded STA Swimming Teacher of the Year in the UK! 🏊‍♀️🏆 Thank you so much to the STA for this incredible honour and recognition - it truly means the world.

To everyone who has supported me and helped me get here, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I will write more once I process it all and can speak with more sense😉!

I would love to share some epic news with you!

I'm thrilled to announce that KOI SWIM SCHOOL has been named a finalist for the STA Swim School Provider of the Year (under 500 participants per week).

I'm also personally honored to be selected as one of three finalists in the UK for the STAr Swimming Teacher of the Year.

The winners will be revealed at the STA awards ceremony on Friday 17th October 2025 during the National Conference in Derby.

This wouldn't have been possible without all of you.
A huge thank you to my amazing team, our Little Champions, all the parents, and you lovely lot (you know) who has been part of the KOI journey for the past 13 years.

My reaction was: There is no way I will make this post shorter so I hope you trust me it's worth taking time to read it.

This feedback in particular means so much to me.
As a swimming teacher I achieved something that was never available to me when I was a child.

To all teachers out there: please use your privilege space and look outside the box.
Being a teacher is full of amazing superpowers just learn to access it and use it wisely.
Small changes help big transformations. Period.

‘’We have been with KOI since our daughter was only a few months old. As she is approaching 7 and we start to research the next steps of her swimming journey (which Justyna actively recommended and has helped with!), we are, as a family in real denial that we won't have Justyna as her swimming teacher anymore! From the very start of the trial class, Justyna clearly had and has such an empathetic way with all of the children in classes no matter their ability, or what kind of mood they are in that day. She is so good at finding little ways of encouraging children, tailoring her words or techniques to fit as they need.. Our daughter had a bit of a progress wobble after about a year or so of swimming, and Justyna took the time to call us outside of the noise ofthe pool and classes to talk through what we were both seeing, the things we could do to help, and the language we should be using. All of this got us back on track in a matter of weeks and her swimming went from strength-to strength.We will forever be grateful for that care. We genuinely believe that our daughter adapted to school transitions and other potentially daunting moments of other clubs and new activities, by the foundation laid by Justyna of what 'good teaching' can look like.. The organisation from the whole KOI team is exceptional and it makes it very easy to get in touch with them, pay for classes when we need to, and know what goals we are working towards. We cannot recommend KOI highly enough for anyone learning to swim, and will regularly put them forward in friendship, school and social groups should anyone be looking for classes and we will really miss it.’’ David Courtley
