Three student-designed hats will be showcased at Ladies Day at Royal Ascot, one of the most prestigious showcases for hat design in the fashion calendar. 👒✨
Our Level 2 Millinery students were commissioned to create bespoke hats for Karen Cummings-Palmer, Chair of the Fashion Minority Alliance Committee and wellbeing entrepreneur. We are delighted that she will be wearing the students' creations at such a prestigious event.
🗣️ As Karen reflected:
“I’m going to be wearing and appreciating and showcasing something that is typically worn by very few. So we thought this would be a really interesting collaboration!”
The final designs showcase both traditional and contemporary millinery techniques, featuring feathers, sinamay, velvet and handmade silk flowers. They were designed based on Karen’s outfits and personal style, and chosen after a series of fittings.
Congratulations to the three students whose designs were selected: Kat Barclay, Marine De La Bernardie and Mia Thomson. 👏

In a recent article, Shirley Fortune, a London Tour Guide who had already completed guiding courses covering the City, Westminster and Camden, explains why she joined the Become a Lambeth Guide course at Morley College last autumn.
"As a born-and-bred Londoner and a ( already) qualified tour guide, I cannot recommend this course highly enough. While I didn’t need another qualification to lead tours, I was eager to deepen my knowledge of Lambeth and the areas 'South of the River.'
The tutors are excellent — approachable, supportive, and skilled at delivering engaging presentations."
Shirley's experience offers a compelling insight into the course, perfect for anyone interested in local history, public speaking, community engagement or becoming a tour guide.
