Gayatri Mantra is a hymn from the ancient Indian scripture RigVeda (10:16:3), and is also often repeated in other scriptures such as the Upanishads. It is directed towards the goddess Gayatri, who is not considered a deity or demigod, but the single supreme personality. It is chanted to remember the higher purpose of life, and can also be used as an invocation or prayer to life our consciousness upwards.
When we chant mantras, we can transform consciousness. As drops merge into the ocean, the singer can dissolve into the chant. When we chant we enter a state of being, consciousness and bliss, of pure loving awareness that is beyond words and concepts. Yet the mantras are rich with symbolism and philosophy.
As shared by a guest lecturer on our Kaivalya training.

Savasana is the foundational building block of all restorative yoga poses, and most restorative classes will begin and end here as it both sets up and releases the practitioner back into a place of deliberate stillness.
With the use of sensitively and intelligently placed props, muscles and bones are relieved of their roles of support and action, and your nervous system can quieten down. Layers of tension and holding are able to melt away as we learn to be present to what is happening in the body and mind with each passing moment.
Tip: in restorative practices, when the nervous system enters rest and digest mode, you will find that your body temperature will drop so having an extra blanket to keep you warm might allow you to feel fully supported.

In the Krama Yoga methodology, we lean towards the ideology of redefined intelligent sequencing.
When creating your class plan, start with consideration: allow the time and thoughtfulness to ask what makes this relevant, how can it be serving, and will it inevitably add value to the overall experience.
Add in creativity as a tool for exploration and to guide students to awaken new neural pathways as well as overcome fears and blockages. Remember to use it wisely, intentionally and purposefully.
And finally, ask 'why?'. Why are you doing this and what purpose does it serve?
So ask yourself these three questions whenever you sit down to plan a practice:
1. Have I considered all the elements of what I'm offering?
2. Can I be creative in how I'm offering opportunities to deepen the experience?
3. Do I have a clear reason why I'm doing what I'm doing?
