St. George`s Day in England remembers St George, England`s patron saint. The anniversary of his death, which was on April 23, is seen as England`s national day.
He might be hailed as a national hero, but he was actually born -in the 3rd century - more than 2000 miles away in Cappadocia (modern day Turkey). He is celebrated as a chivalric knight or a warrior but it is more likely that he was an officer in the Roman army.
Images of George and the dragon survive from the 9th century -500 year later after his death. Originally these may simply have been representations of the battle between Good and Evil. But the story was developed and popularised in the Middle Ages in a compendium of stories about saints` lives, The Golden Legend.
England shares St George with Venice, Genoa, Portugal, Ethiopia and Catalonia among others as their patron saint.

420; (pronounced four-twenty, and written 4/20 in the US) is a cannabis slang for ma*****na or hashish. It is mostly used to refer to smoking around the time of 4.20 pm. Londoners gather in large groups for the annual celebration in Hyde Park to celebrate the unoffical '420' cannabis holiday to protest smoke.

It is a day celebrated around the world by many avid fans of the green herb, making the unofficial Ma*****na holiday across the globe.

According to legend, the date goes back to 1971, where a group of students at San Rafael High School in California would meet at 4.20 pm every day for a joint and a catch-up.
The group who called themselves The Waldos -then started to use the time to describe the act of smoking itself, and thus 420 was born.

Different slangs for ma*****na:
cannabis, hashish, bhang, h**p, kef, kif, charas, g***a, sinsemilla, dope, hash, grass, pot, blow, draw, stuff, Mary Jane, tea, w**d, joint, majoon...

Cannabis contains active ingredients called cannabinoids, 2 of these- THC and CBD (cannabidoil) are the active ingredients used to relieve the pain of muscle spasm in multiple sclerosis.
Another component of Cannabis is Nabilone which is used to relieve sickness in people having chemotherapy for cancer.
Ma*****na is received approvel as a treatment for some types of epilepsy. The symptoms of mental illnesses like depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety can be a complimentary treatment by ma*****na.

Before ma*****na was the popular drug and medicine that it is today, cultures all around the world used and consumed the plant in all aspects of their lives. First, the Native Americans recognized ma*****na's helaing medical powers; ...the root is good for inflammations in the head or other areas, gout, joint or hippain, and muscular atrophy... Native Americans also regarded cannabis as a stimulating agent and a psychological aid, fitting with the concept of the Peace Pipe that those who smoke together make peace.
