Some Like it Hot Exhibition
24 November - 15 December 2017
For the first time, staff from across the Jewellery and Textiles Programme are showcasing their research and practice together in exhibition. 'Some Like It Hot' presents new projects through the perspective of temperatures required to fabricate materials: some designers need to operate at 1000 °C, while others work below zero.
Making in design and craft encompasses transformative processes which often need to be executed at specific temperatures. The transition from Stone Age to Iron Age evidences how, by expanding our mastery of heat processes, craft makers colonised new ways of making leading across millennia to the cutting-edge techniques of today's contemporary practice.
