Since 1982, the RCL Community and Vocational Committee has organised a trip every 3 or 4 years for a group of 12 profoundly deaf children from Oak Lodge School ( with 4 of their teachers) to go to Interlaken to part in recreational and leadership training activities which aim to change their lives.
The Oak Lodge School is a special school for deaf children, recognised as a regional school, having pupils from all over Greater London. The Rotary Club of London, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Interlaken has regularly enabled groups of these young people to have educational trips to Switzerland.
