The Renters’ Rights Act has officially been implemented, bringing in changes that are designed to make renting fairer.

👉 No more fixed end dates - your tenancy continues until you or your landlord decide to end it.
👉 You have more security - no fault evictions have been removed, which means landlords need a valid reason to ask you to leave.
👉 Rent increases are limited - your rent can now only be increased once a year.
👉 You can’t be asked for large rent payments upfront - landlords can only ask for up to one month’s rent in advance.
👉 Pet friendly homes - you now have the right to request a pet, and landlords must have a valid reason to refuse.
👉 You have more flexibility too - if you want to leave, you can give two months’ notice at any point.
