What an event! We loved seeing you in our International Guest Lecture! I hope you enjoyed it and that you were able to get to the drinks reception afterwards 🥂🎊
It was an honour to host Dr Gerald Friedland, Professor Emeritus at Yale University, for a special guest lecture in collaboration with UCL-TB. Dr Friedland's talk, "Confronting HIV and TB from the Bronx NY to Tugela Ferry, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa... and Beyond", was a fascinating snapshot into his experiences with HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis from the early 1980s to the present day.
The talk was live streamed and recorded, enjoy! https://mediacentral.ucl.ac.uk/Play/9762
Dr Friedland began working with HIV/AIDS patients in the US in 1981 and, more recently, his pioneering research has included integrating HIV and TB care and treatment in co-infected patients in South Africa with the aim of improving diagnosis, treatment and outcome of both diseases. He received the N'Galy Mann Award in 2016 and the Maxwell Finland Lectureship in 2010.

Could this be the end of the 'reservoirs'?
Researchers create molecule that could ‘kick and kill’ HIV
A team of researchers from the UCLA Center for AIDS Research, Stanford University and the National Institutes of Health developed a synthetic molecule that could awaken dormant virus cells and then knock them out.

Welcome to UCL! Congrats on making it to one of the best universities in the world! 🎊
If you fancy science and are interested in learning about HIV/AIDS, don’t hesitate to come join the UCL HIVE society!
We will be teaching in secondary schools and sixth form colleges, as well as fundraising throughout the year and organising a conference.
We will be hosting several exciting and fun activities (art exhibitions, creative writing workshops and much more to help promote mental health awareness and wellbeing). This will enable any enthusiastic activist to play his/her part in campaigning against one of the most deadliest diseases of the world.
Last but not least, we will also be taking part in many community fairs and events which will help spread awareness of HIV including the RUMS Fresher’s Fair (Medics Fresher’s fair at the Royal Free Hospital) taking place this Tuesday! :)
Don’t forget to come meet us at the UCL fresher’s fair next Tuesday! If you have new ideas or are interested in volunteering with us, don't hesitate to get in touch through email ([email protected] ) or Facebook.
