This morning we had 3 different experiments- the rubber egg that we started earlier in the week, the cola and mentoes experiment and the exploding bags.
We tested the rubber eggs to see if they bounced- they then split and didn't bounce. The exploding bags were filled with vinegar and baking soda, they filled up very fast with the air and exploded!! We all know what happens when mentoes are put into cola, so we had to do this outside.
This afternoon we tested floating and sinking, The children guessed what would happen- tested it, then put them on the sinking or floating pile.
Have a lovely weekend 🙂

Continuing our experiments week the children made slime this morning. Using just cornflour and washing up liquid mixed together they created a slimy playdough. The children measured a cup full of each ingredient and mixed them together ( physical, knowledge and understanding). We also had a new toy in the hall, a car track which all of the children loved!
After lunch the children were asked to find letters that were written on the magnetic boards. After they had matched the letters that were then asked to find the letters of their names, put them in the right order and spell it ( literacy)

More exciting experiments today! Using brown paper and a tall cup we made a volcano. Then we added vinegar, food colouring and bi carbonate soda, we watched what happened and this made a volcano eruption! (knowledge and understanding) After this we then used a lemon to make a volcano. We cut the end of the lemon off and added bi-carb and watched it erupt like a volcano also.
we also checked on our eggs in vinegar, not much change yet, but lots of bubbles. This afternoon we practiced writing numbers 1-10 by copying them (maths)

We had fun with skittles this morning- they were placed around a white plate and water was poured over them very slowly. They made a rainbow on a plate- wow! ( knowledge and understanding). Then the children put eggs into white vinegar to soak for 2 days until the turn bouncy- we need to be patient for that one.
After lunch we practised name writing for schoolwork ( literacy). We also went into the friendship centre to sing to sing to the ladies and gentleman from the lunch club and we gave them all a biscuit each (personal and social)

This afternoon the children drew around shape stencils (physical) and then they needed to find the corresponding shapes to stick inside the shape (maths).
