Students at LAB took part in a Sleep Easy event on Friday night to raise money for YMCA Bournemouth. The students had an amazing night building shelters, playing games and even a bit of karaoke before braving a chilly night in sleeping bags! It was certainly a brave undertaking but it was amazing to see students having fun whilst supporting a local charity. Well done to all the students and staff who took part!
Also a big thank you to everyone who donated, the students have currently raised £1337! There’s still time to give by going to their page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/livingstoneacademysleepeasy2026

Year 7 and 8 students enjoyed a fantastic celebration today after winning the LAB Attendance World Cup.

Their well-earned reward was a pizza party in the school hall. There was plenty of pizza to go around, an exciting escape room challenge to solve, and lots of laughter as everyone spent a fun-filled afternoon with friends.

A huge well done to both classes for their outstanding attendance.

We’re proud to share that our Student Voice team has successfully secured a £500 “Make Your Mark” grant from BCP Council. The funding has been used to create a new calm space designed for all students to enjoy.

The team has thoughtfully developed the area with posters, beanbags, cushions, weighted blankets, plants and diffusers, alongside stress balls and art therapy activities. This space is intended to support pupil mental health and provide a welcoming environment for relaxation.

The grant has also enabled the training of new Wellbeing Ambassadors, who will be based in the calm space offering peer support and strengthening our LAB community.

We look forward to seeing students make the most of this fantastic new space during break and lunchtime.

The primary students had a wonderful trip to the community gardens at Bournemouth University. They learned about different types of plants, vegetables, and fruits grown in the garden, as well as the best seasons for planting seeds.

The children also enjoyed getting hands-on experience by helping to plant seeds during their visit. They were excited to bring some seeds back to grow at LAB and to take some home to plant with their families.

The students are eager to build on what they have learned and would like to continue planting and caring for plants at LAB. Student voice has suggested creating a vegetable patch at LAB to support this interest.

What a successful visit to Leonardo Helicopters as part of Your Future Story. Students explored the inside of a wind tunnel used to test helicopters, toured the site, and took part in engineering challenges.

Congratulations to Milena and Jagoda, who won the competition against students from the other schools.

Before half term, Student Voice organised a Valentine’s fundraiser to support their Arc courtyard makeover. Students sold hot chocolates, delivered sweets and cards, and hosted a “Splat the Teacher” event, which was enjoyed by everyone involved.

In total, they raised £215 for their project and have already started clearing the courtyard in preparation for the new resources arriving. Thank you for your continued support.

Greetings from Japan.

Some of our secondary students had some very exciting mail delivered today.

Back in January, we established links with Miyazaki Prefectural Gokase Secondary School in Japan. Our students from LAB wrote letters describing what school life is like in the UK, and today we were delighted to receive thoughtful replies from Japan.

Our new pen pals are hoping the exchange will help them develop their English and gain a deeper understanding of our culture. In return, our students are already drafting their responses and are keen to learn more about daily life and education in Japan.
