Whether you like Lady Gaga or not, look at what she is doing with her lyric placement. At 0:57, "CAN'T read MY", the stress is on the off-beat. You wouldn't say it like this in a sentence. The groove comes from her body, and overrides speech patterns. This is what makes it exciting for many, many people. To me, this is evidence of how powerful the rhythmic aspect of music is, and I find it a crying shame that it's not given enough attention in "mainstream" music education. I aspire to change it. In fact, I am changing it already. There is much more to come.
