I had trouble naming this one, until the lovely Isaac who scanned it for me, named it “Katie’s window”. Bam.

I started with a very loose sketch, and didn’t think too much before whacking some paint on the board. Very freeing-highly recommend 🙌🏽

The design is representative of the masking one might do around others, to cover mild chaos and the work it really takes to be ok. A little flourish of beauty above, but effort to illuminate the unseen depths.

Posting these new prints and realizing I don’t have much of the process documented!

I intentionally left out the “content creation” part of making lots of work last year. Have found it sometimes adds pressure or just faff that interferes with painting, especially if you are really trying to express some of the human stuff that happens on grey days.

Plus, filming yourself in goblin mode, reeeeally erodes the ego.

I will be posting more prints gradually, and making more too!

This particular piece is focused on resilience and progress, the kind that’s small enough to forget. A plant similar to a lily - for no reason at all except that I love the shape of lily pads (green heart). Growing like a w**d in unexpected circumstances, despite solid ground, poisoned water and plumes of smoke.

Got to revisit Loma Alta park today! Was so lovely to see it so full of people enjoying the sunshine and the mural looking as fresh as the day she was painted. This was a special project 🌿
