Thistles are fantastic pollinator flowers (also: often free. Very free. *Excessively* free, sometimes 😅) producing heaps of pollen and nectar, followed by loads of seeds. My garden tends towards getting HUGE spear thistles (I think? Now I'm doubting the type... hmm. Bigguns, anyhow) and three absolute Specimens had sprouted up in a bed I was planning to change around anyway.
So that bed will be big purple flowers and Moderate Chances Of Stabbing for this year.

Bah; not going to be able to go to the Nottingham Organic Gardeners screening of the People's Emergency Briefing this evening. I spent all of yesterday having angry spine Floor Time and doing ibuprofen clock watching, and I don't think my misbehaving vertebrae will manage hall chairs for that long.
Spines are rubbish. Exoskelektons when?? 😅

First of the Scarlet Tiger moths spotted in my garden! (Or at least, being in a shed and needing to be moved gently outside.) Absolutely *gorgeous* moth, metallic green-blue sheen to the backing black and bright patterns.
The caterpillars eat green alkanet, of which I have SO MUCH, and spotted a good number of them this year. I hope more have made it too 🥰

Still talking at Woodthorpe on Monday but we've relocated to a cooler place so it's still going to be a fun talk about bees, rather than watching me melt into a grumpy puddle 🥵

We look forward to seeing you at 11am on Monday! 👋
