Cool? Ice Cool 😎
Our levels of coolness stepped up a gear today as we embraced the conditions!
With lots of ice lolly breaks, plenty of chill time, even our feet had a good soak in their very own ice baths! 🛁
Diolch to all the staff for their hard work and ensuring our children were comfortable to learn.

Huge thanks once again to Mr Gregory for his hard work through the night and into the early hours! 💪
We can confirm all snow has been cleared and paths are safe to walk on both campuses and that school today is open! 🫶
As an additional bonus, snow and ice have been collected and there will be further cool and refreshing treats today for children to enjoy today! 🧊

Today we gave a VERY warm welcome / croeso cynnes ☀️ to Mrs Cornelius, Mrs Barlow and Mrs Andrews who have spent the day across all three sites in assemblies led by children, talking with learners, looking at learning journey displays, cross curricular lessons, preparations for next weeks Fayre, as well as pupils work.

Our Criw Cymraeg, pupils and staff have worked extremely hard over the past two years, with support from the Welsh leads as well as our wonderful Swyddog Y Cymraeg Mrs Davies. Taith at Ddwy Iaith - Destination: Bilingual😊

Mrs RW, Mrs Jones and the Criw Cymraeg are very excited to inform you that today we have been awarded the 👏💛GWOBR AUR💛👏Gold Award🏅

A wonderful achievement which acknowledges the fantastic opportunities provided for our children to speak Welsh both in and out of class, our involvement in the Urdd and our work in the wider community. Da iawn pawb 🤩✨⭐️

Staying Cool in School!
After working this morning and between breaks, it was great to cool down today with a few pop freeze lollipops and even a cold foot-bath!!
A huge thanks to the staff and parents and grandparents who have sent in lollipop treads for ALL our children (and staff!) to enjoy!
The good news is there’s more in the freezer for tomorrow!

Prynhawn da pawb,

Thanks for all your support this week as we ensure our children are safe in school during this period of high temperatures.

We will continue to follow guidelines and advice across key times of the day.

These include:
* well ventilated rooms
* ample opportunities to take water breaks (planned and unplanned)
* outside (shade) and inside break options
* minimising physical excursion
* in addition to this, children are welcome to come to school in either their white PE t-shirt or collared school (green) polo shirts
* ice cool refreshments on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

We have also taken decisions to adjust what topics and lessons we teach the children and have also postponed our Summer Fayre from Thursday this week to Thursday 2nd July.

If there are any questions about any of our points above, please ask.

Could parents continue to ensure children are sent in to school with refillable water bottle, appropriate protection from the sun, hats and if possible, sun screen applied before school.

We will continue to assess the situation throughout the week and update further if needed.

Our Summer Fayre will now take place on Thursday 2nd July at 3:05pm on the Calon y Dderwen Campus

This determined young athlete headed across Wales on Saturday to sunny Aberystwyth ☀️, with a fantastic run in the Traws Gwlad Urdd gaining a top 10 finish! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 A cracking sprint towards the circus tent and then flying around that final bend! 👏

As weather is expected to reach above 30 degrees this week ☀️, please send your children into school with a refillable water bottle, sun hat (clearly named) and if possible, please apply sun cream before school.
We will adapt to the heat as needed.

Really proud of this one yesterday who took part in the Across Wales Walk challenge from Aberhafesp to Montgomery! 🙌 (How on earth he has the energy to be playing football today I’ll never know! 😳) helping to raise a mammoth £3,500 for a great cause of Pancreatic Cancer Research.
