🏅🌟 Key Stage 1 Sports Day is Coming! 🌟🏅

Get ready to run, jump, balance and have lots of fun at our Key Stage 1 Sports Day!

📅 Monday 22nd June
📍 Aylward School Field
⏰ Events begin at 9:15am

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 should arrive at school as normal by 8:50am, ready for an exciting morning of sporting activities.

👕 What to wear:
⭐ PE kit
⭐ A top in your House colour
⭐ Trainers suitable for running and playing

🎒 What to bring:
💧 Water bottle
🧢 Sun hat
☔ Waterproof coat (just in case!)
☀️ Please make sure sun cream is applied before school.
💙 If your child uses an asthma inhaler, please ensure they bring it with them.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents and carers are warmly invited to come along and cheer on our amazing athletes!

Our Sports Day will take place on the main school field. After the normal morning gate opening times, access to the field will be through the main school entrance on Pangbourne Drive.

A big thank you to the students from Bentley Wood High School, who will be helping to support the events, and to our wonderful PTFA, who will be running a refreshment stall.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ The morning will be packed with fun, teamwork, determination and plenty of smiles! Activities will finish by 12:30pm, ready for lunch, and lessons will continue as normal in the afternoon.

We can’t wait to see our children shine and show off their sporting skills. Good luck to all our competitors! 🎉🥇

🌞📚 Family Reading Picnic – Today at 2:50pm! 📚🌞

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our Family Reading Picnic this afternoon from 2:50pm for a fun-filled celebration of reading together!

Bring along a blanket or beach towel, your favourite nut-free snacks, and get ready to relax, read, and enjoy some quality time with your child and our school community.

📍 Access to the school field will be through the gate next to the school office.

👋 When you arrive, please let your child’s class teacher know so they can dismiss your child into your care. Once collected, parents and carers will be responsible for their children throughout the event.

🥜 As Aylward is a nut-free school, please ensure that any food items brought along do not contain nuts.

Thursday 18th June 2026, we will be celebrating our wonderful International Day at school!

This will be a fantastic opportunity for children to explore, share and celebrate the many cultures, traditions and countries that make our school community so special.

👕 Dress Up for the Day!

Children are encouraged to come to school wearing:

* Traditional clothing from their culture, or
* Clothes in the colours of their country’s flag.

We can’t wait to see the amazing outfits and learn more about the countries and cultures represented in our school!

✈️ Morning Adventures Around the World

Throughout the morning, children will take part in a variety of fun classroom activities inspired by different countries from around the globe. They will discover fascinating facts, traditions, languages, landmarks and much more!

🌎 International Day Fayre

In the afternoon, our school will transform into an exciting International Day Fayre!

Children will visit a range of country-themed stalls, learning about cultures, customs and traditions from around the world. As they travel from stall to stall, they will complete a special passport-style activity, collecting stamps and experiences from each country they visit.

🎭 Share Your Culture

All stall resources will be prepared in school. However, if your child would like to bring in a small item, photograph, book, artefact or other object that represents their culture, they are very welcome to do so. Any items brought in should be given to the class teacher and will remain with them throughout the day.

⭐ A Celebration of Our School Community

International Day is all about celebrating diversity, learning from one another and taking pride in the unique cultures that make our school such a vibrant and welcoming place.

We are looking forward to a day full of discovery, learning, laughter and celebration!

Let’s travel around the world together without leaving school! 🌍✈️

📚On Tuesday 16th June 2026, Aylward Primary School will be hosting a Reading Picnic. This is an
opportunity for the children to enjoy reading their favourite stories outside, in order to help foster a love
of reading.
We would like to invite parents and carers to join for the picnic before home-time. Please bring
something to sit on (beach towel, picnic blanket) and a snack for you and your child/children. You will
then have time to enjoy reading together on the field.
Date of event:
Tuesday 16th June 2026
Parents/carers are invited to join the picnic at 2:50pm
The event will finish at 3:40pm
The children will be dismissed from the field at the end of the event. If you are unable to attend, please
collect your child at the normal time from the school field.
If you have children in several year groups, please collect all of your children, inform their teacher and
join the youngest child’s class.
