Learning about science isn't just done in the classroom; over the years I've had the pleasure of conducting outreach and educational activities everywhere from museums and theatres to pubs and cathedrals. They all come with their own unique set of perks and challenges, and make every outreach endeavour a totally unique one.

We pass by rocks every day and think little of them, but every rock has a story to tell. It's colour, texture and even taste can tell you something about how it was formed, which allows us to reconstruct the deep history of our surroundings. Whether it's a slab of basalt formed by the cooling of magma breaking through the Earth's crust, or a chunk of sandstone containing fossil shells and teeth washed together by the waves on an ancient beach.
