Andrew Curphey Theatre Company recently won the 'Arts Organisation of the Year' at the Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity Awards 2024. As we mark our 16th anniversary, we're excited to announce our 2024/2025 season of classes in Widnes, Runcorn, Warrington, and Frodsham. Under the leadership of Andrew Curphey, an actor, performer, and theatre teacher from Widnes, along with his talented
team of performing arts teachers and practitioners, ACTC offers a supportive environment where children and young people can develop their skills in performing arts, musical theatre, drama, dance, and singing. Our evening classes in the community provide valuable opportunities for creative growth and skill enhancement. Participants not only improve their performance abilities but also build confidence and have fun. Each year, our students have the chance to take part in exciting live performances. ACTC has a strong history of delivering performing arts workshops and lessons in local primary schools. Our services include PPA cover, curriculum projects, after-school clubs, productions, and CPD lessons. We are committed to creating positive experiences for students, staff, and school management, believing that every primary-aged child should have the chance to explore creative and performing arts during the school day. We are also grateful for the continued support of our Patron, Marjorie Barlow (Gary's Mother), who frequently attends our productions. Andrew says, “Our teaching philosophy focuses on providing a safe environment where children and young people can grow and learn. We give them a platform to express themselves, showcase their talents, and build confidence. Our core mission is to ensure that every child and young person has fun and creates lasting memories.”
In 2024, Andrew reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent, performing live on ITV. In 2018, he was commissioned by Halton Borough Council and the Mersey Gateway to create and direct a performance for Her Majesty the Queen and the Duchess of Sussex. This significant event, which included conversations with both the Queen and Meghan Markle, received extensive media coverage on Sky News, BBC, ITV, ABC (America), Good Morning America, and other international and UK press outlets.
