Even our LBHS mannequins are trying to keep cool! π
The following CC announcement has been sent:
βοΈ*From Tuesday, June 23 through to Thursday, June 25*:βοΈ
βπβ*Relaxed Uniform Policy*: Students are not required to wear blazers or ties Tues/Weds/Thurs. Blazers and ties can remain at home or in school (in lockers) if students would prefer not to have to wear or carry them to and from school. However, please ensure that they transfer all necessary equipment/pencil cases etc to their school bag, so they have everything they need for their normal lessons. We recommend students wear the tailored shorts or skirt and short-sleeved shirts. There have been suggestions that PE kit can be worn. We feel that the shorts/skirt and shirt of our regular uniform will be equally as cool and comfortable as the PE kit option. We also think it best that students can wear PE kit for PE lessons and then have their uniform to change into afterwards.
π₯΅*PE and physical activity*: We will modify PE lessons accordingly and ensure there is no strenuous activity outdoors during peak temperatures.
π½οΈ*Break and Lunch times*: Students will be permitted to remain indoors should they wish to during break and lunch. We will not be permitting strenuous games, such as football, during break and lunch time and will be advising students to remain in shaded areas as far as possible.
π¦ *Hydration*: Please ensure your child comes to school with a large, refillable water bottle. There will be ample opportunities for students to use water stations to refill these during break and lunch times.
Sun Protection: With UV levels forecast to be exceptionally high (reaching an index of 8 π), please ensure students apply high-factor sunscreen before arriving at school and bring a hat for outdoor break times.
We expect cooler, more comfortable conditions to return by Friday. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe and comfortable.

Next week's sporting fixtures - take note!

Today four of our students attended a KS3 inter-school debate hosted by St Sampsonβs High School. Ten teams battled it out against each other. First, they competed in a prepared motion on the banning of cars from central St Peter Port. This was then followed by an unprepared motion on whether smart phones should be banned for under 16s.
Both of our LBHS teams demonstrated their skillful speech making and their tenacity during open questions.
Kai and Jacques placed third overall and Amelie and Alicia took first place. Well done to our debaters.
We run a debate club every Monday if any students are inspired to develop their debating skills.
