*Dear Parents/Guardians,*

This might be hard to hear.
But it needs to be said.

Schools are not the reason behavior is declining.
Parenting is.

Not all parents.
Not every home.
But enough to shift the culture inside classrooms.

Children are arriving at school less prepared to handle “no.”
Less able to wait.
Less able to lose.
Less able to regulate frustration.

And those skills are not taught in math class.

They are taught at home.

Somewhere along the way, discipline became a dirty word.
Boundaries became negotiable.
Consequences became optional.
And discomfort became something to rescue children from immediately.

But growth requires discomfort.
Respect requires limits.
Self-control requires practice.

When a child is never told *“no”* without a debate,
school feels unfair.

When a parent questions every consequence,
authority weakens.

When a child learns that adults will bend rules to avoid upset,
they expect the same in the classroom.

Teachers are now managing behaviour that used to be corrected long before school age.
They are parenting while trying to teach.
They are negotiating while trying to instruct.
They are calming while trying to challenge.

And then they are blamed for falling standards.

This is not about perfection.
No parent is perfect.
No teacher is perfect.

This is about responsibility.

If we want stronger classrooms,
we need stronger boundaries at home.

If we want respectful students,
we need consistent consequences.

If we want schools to teach,
children must arrive ready to learn.

Schools cannot replace parenting.
They can only reinforce it.

*With respect, A teacher who sees the difference.*
