Why we take reading seriously at Tumi International School πŸ“š

The world is changing faster than any curriculum can keep up with. The jobs our children will do, the problems they will solve, many of them do not even exist yet.
So what is the one skill that prepares them for all of it?
The ability to read. Really read. To sit with a text, understand it, question it, and think for themselves.
At Tumi International School we believe that a child who loves reading and thinks critically will always be able to figure out what they need to know. In a world where information is everywhere, the skill is no longer just finding knowledge. It is knowing what to do with it.
That is why reading is at the heart of everything we do. Not as a box to tick, but as a lifelong relationship we help every child build.

Because the future belongs to curious, independent thinkers. And it all starts with a book. 🌍✨

At Tumi International School we believe education goes far beyond memorising the right answers. Our holistic approach nurtures the whole child while building real critical and analytical thinking skills that will serve them for life.πŸ€“
Thinkers, not just test-takers.
Come visit us and see what learning looks like when it is truly alive.

At TIS, learning looks a little different πŸ‘€
When we say play, we don't mean just running around outside (though we love that too 🌳).
We mean carefully designed learning games, created by education professionals, that make children want to engage, explore, and discover.

The magic? It doesn't even feel like learning to them. It just feels like fun. ✨
And that's exactly the point.

When kids are having a good time, they absorb more, remember more, and show up excited to do it all over again the next day πŸ™ŒπŸ½

This is what education can look like. And we're here for it πŸ’›

Big news! πŸ™Œ Tumi International School has moved to a new location in Asokwa! Our new building is safer for the little ones (no stairs!), has a gorgeous shady compound to play in, and we're starting a vegetable garden with the kids very soon πŸ₯¬πŸ…

We couldn't be more excited for this new chapter!

Call our line for directions to the new location - admission is open!

Playing outside is not just β€œfun time.” It is essential time. 🌿

When children play outside, something different happens. Their bodies move freely. Their imagination opens up. Their nervous system relaxes.

Outside play helps children:
β€’ Build strong muscles and coordination
β€’ Develop creativity through open-ended play
β€’ Learn social skills by solving small conflicts themselves
β€’ Reduce stress and regulate emotions
β€’ Strengthen focus and confidence

At school and at home, we sometimes focus so much on academics that we forget this: movement and fresh air are part of learning too.

Outside is not a break from learning. It is learning. 🌱

Hands in paint. Minds at work. 🎨
Experiential learning sticks with fewer repetitions.

This is real learning. See those concentrated faces? 🀩πŸ₯°

Learning at TIS is fun, hands-on and interactive!

This is real play-based learning.
Fun, focus, and growing brains all at once.
Play is how children learn best.

✨ Happy Holidays from Tumi International School ✨

As the year comes to an end, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to all our parents and caregivers who believe in TIS and trust us with their children. We don't take this trust for granted 🧑

A very big thank you to our dedicated teachers, whose passion, patience, and commitment made everything possible this year. You are the heart of our school, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do every day. 🌟

This year, a lot happened. We learned, we grew, we adapted, and we built together. None of this would be possible without your support, patience, and shared belief in holistic and meaningful education.

We are excited for what's ahead and wish you all a joyful holiday season and a peaceful start to the new year.

With gratitude,
Tumi International School

Dr. Lydian de Ligt, who is researching Sickle Cell in Ghana, came as a guest teacher at TIS to educate our students about Sickle Cell. The children learned about red and white blood cells, how the disease is detected, and how to support people living with Sickle Cell. At TIS we believe in real knowledge transfer, not just passing tests for good grades πŸ€“.

Would you like your child to receive a holistic education? Registration for next term is now open!✨️🧑
