🚨 LECERP ALERT 🚨
Cheating for Grades, Futures at Stake: The Growing Threat of WASSCE Malpractice in Ghana

Examination malpractice continues to threaten the credibility of the WASSCE and Ghana’s education system. Evidence from WAEC publications and other data sources (2020–2025) points to rising cases of impersonation, collusion, question leakage, and the use of unauthorized materials during examinations.

While WASSCE remains central to students’ educational and career opportunities, growing malpractice raises serious concerns about accountability, supervision, and public trust in educational outcomes. Stronger monitoring and enforcement measures are needed to safeguard the integrity of examinations in Ghana.

📚🚨 Cheating for Grades, Futures at Stake

Examination malpractice in Ghana is no longer an isolated issue, it is becoming a growing national concern with serious implications for education, professionalism, and public trust.

From leaked questions and collusion to the use of mobile phones and AI tools during examinations, recent trends in the WASSCE point to an urgent need for action. Behind every cancelled paper or withheld result is a deeper question about integrity, accountability, and the future of Ghana’s workforce.

At the Legon Centre for Education Research and Policy, we believe this is the time for a national conversation on academic honesty, ethical teaching, and meaningful reforms in examination supervision and school accountability.

As Ghana prepares for WASSCE 2026, we ask:
• Will examination malpractice continue to rise?
• Are schools, parents, teachers, and examination bodies prepared to confront the challenge?
• How do we restore confidence in our education system?

Cheating for grades today may cost futures tomorrow. Integrity must remain at the heart of education. 🇬🇭

Through initiatives such as TRUCE, LECERP continues to champion educational research, policy engagement, and innovation that contribute meaningfully to the transformation of higher education and graduate development across Africa.
