"TVET ON THE MOVE"
Today, Friday 02 July, 2021, the TVET Unit, MoE had its second in- house Continuous Professional Development( CPD) session for Officers/ Staff.
Notably, at today's session TVET Officers, Mr. Rawle Andrews and Ms. Marlyn Davis presented on the Essentials of the Secondary Competency Certificate Programme( SCCP), one of the many programmes that is being monitored and supervised within thereabout fifty Secondary schools and PIC's in Guyana. Indeed, it was a detailed and comprehensive presentation executed by the herein officers.
Additionally, in attendance were the Coordinator of the TVET Unit, Dr. Ritesh Tularam and other TVET Officers of the Unit, as well as two data entry clerks.
Notably, Dr. Tularam expressed commendation to the Officers for their eloquent and dynamic presentation, and charged that this existing practice be an ongoing friday's engagement for the TVET Unit.

"TVET ON THE MOVE"

Pedagogues of the Home Economics and Visual Arts Occupational Areas benefitted from One Week of interactive engagement at the NCERD and St. Joseph High School respectively.
Notably, the Home Economics one week session was carefully planned to engage teachers of this TVET area to plan and design CSEC SBA questions and mark schemes for the upcoming CSEC Examinations, which will be disseminated in all the Schools across Guyana for the Students to complete their SBA's in an efficient manner.
Moreover, the Visual Arts session focused on providing the Pedagogues with the requisite skills, knowledge and positive mindset of competently preparing the students with the " batik" component of the CSEC Visual Arts requirements.
Moreover, these Two Enriching and/ or Enpowering sessions were well executed by Officers of the TVET Unit, Ministry Of Education namely; Ms. Lori- Ann Jacobs and Ms. Davis. Additionally, veterian Tvetians provided and shared their expertise at these sessions( Ms. Gibson, Ms. Harris & Ms. Browne).
Head of TVET Unit, Dr. Tularam expressed approbation/ felicitations to all the Pedagogues and facilitators of these two sessions and requested all to ensure they work in a collegial, collaborative and in a dialogical manner to scaffold TVET in ensuring it achieve its rightful trajectory in Guyana's national, social and economic development.
All participants were provided with a certificate of participation for their invaluable and unfathomable contribution.

The Guyana Association of Home Economics( GAHE) in Collaboration with the TVET Unit, Ministry of Education Presents the first Ever Virtual Home Economics Career Fair, 2021.
This momentous and historic event was consciously conceptualized, and well implemented by a luminary group of Home Economists( Tvetians) of GAHE, as well as the TVET Unit( formerly SCCP Unit) to sensitive and/ or enlighten the students of Secondary Schools/ PIC's of the various regions on the plethora of opportunities that are available in the local industries, businesses and institutions, with the direct linkage to Home Economics, as well as to provide to the students with the positive mindset for their intended/ potential future career.
Notwithstanding, thenpresenters in attendance on this virtual Career Fair are viz- a- vis; Dr. Tularam, Head, TVET Unit; Mr. Mark Roberts, CTVET; Ms. Davis, EO 1, TVET Unit; HRM, CAMEX Resaurants; Representatives from D.D.L; G.S.A and C.SH.E respectively.
Notably, it is anticipated that the students from various Secondary Schools/ PiC's of Grades 10 & 11 will share their concerted views of their potential career projection after completing their secondary school education. Remarkably, this first ever Virtual Career Fair currently attracts on call 242 participants.
In view of this event, Dr. Tularam sincerly expressed his unfeigned approbation on behalf of the TVET Unit, and by extension the Ministry of Education to the organising committee for strategically endeavoring in this Enriching and/ or empowering engagement, whereby career guidance information is provided to the future leaders ( students)of our beloved country, even though we are all operating in an unprecedented time( COVID 19).
Additionally, in his firm assertion Dr. Tularam posited that; " there is an essentatility of such Enlightening and intutive engagements, whereby students should be provided with the numerous career opportunities available in the Home Economics Occupational Area, as well as the possible potential upward mobility in transforming an individual to make a meaningful and / or purposeful contribution to their community, themselves and by extension the country as a whole".

" TVET ON THE MOVE"
The TVET Unit, Ministry of Education on this Global day of celebrating the momentous occasion of International Day for Women takes great pleasure in recognizing and underscoring the numerous and/ or immense contributions the women of this Unit( TVET Unit) have made over the number of years in ensuring equilibrium and sustainability in the dissemination of Education across the geographical spaces in this our quintessential land, beautiful Guyana.
Interestingly, the garagantaum contributions made by these transformational being can never go unacknowledged and / or unrecognized, since, this has seen an incremental transformation in the day-to- day engagement at the herein Unit, and by extension the Ministry of Education.
The head of the TVET Unit, Dr. Tularam salutes these hardworking, committed, dedicated and result- oriented women, and wish them continued success in their respective spaces. Notably, the TVET Unit extends felicitations to all women in this global sphere.

"TVET ON THE MOVE"
Pedagogues/ Practitioners of Region # 10 and the Linden Technical Institute( LTI) benefitted from yet another Enriching, Empowering, Reflective and Transformational Two Weeks(02) of Competency Based Education and Training( CBET) at the Linden Technical Institute.
As such, these Pedagogues/ Practitioners are now deemed competent to implement and deliver the CBET methodologies in the Schools and Institutes in Region # 10.
In light of the herein, Head of the TVET Unit, Ministry of Education, Dr. Ritesh Tularam congratulated the recipients on this milestone achievement, and underscored the importance of their unfathomable contributions in ensuring that the Ministry's Policy is reliable, which states that; " Each Child leaving the Secondary School must do so with CSEC and CVQ qualifications respectively.
Dr. Tularam affirmed that the Practitioners/ Pedagogues are now essentially equipped with the requisite Skills, Knowledge and desirable attitudes, which seemingly makes them "Competent" to be the driving force in the transformation of Guyana's developmnetal landscape, hence maintaining the trajectory of Productivitity, continuity and sustainability.
In attendance were vis-a- viz; Director, CTVET, Mr. Scott, Deputy Director, CTVET, Mr. Sharma, DEO Region 10; Ms. Sinclair, Principal and Deputy Principal LTI along with other TVET practitioners.
Dr. Tularam expressed sincerest approbation on behalf of the TVET unit, and by extension the Ministry of Education to the CTVET for its continuous support in ensuring the positive and dynamic drive is at its optimum with the ultimate intention of ensuring that training of the Pedagogues are at its zenith.in satisfying the emerging educational trends.

"TVET ON THE MOVE"
The TVET Unit, Ministry of Education had two(02) very productive, fruitful and enriching engagements in the form of virtual meetings with the Heads/ Deputy Heads of the SCCP Schools/ PIC's, and by extension the 10 identified Secondary Schools, one in each region, which will pilot the implementation of the Caribbean Vocational Qualification( CVQ) level one Programmes in the Schools.
Consequently, the Head of the Unit Dr. Tularam firmly re- emphasized the articulated TVET position envisaged by the Government of Guyana in ensuring that every citizenery have access to the plethora of TVET opportunities across the various geographical spaces in Guyana.
Notably, this well positioned vision is integrally inter-twined within the Ministry's Policy for TVET, which states that; "each child leaving the Secondary School should leave with a CSEC and CVQ qualifications.
More importantly, the following Officers were in attendance and made meaningful and / or significant contributions in providing the essential guidance to the Pedagogues, vis- a viz; CEO, Dr. Hutson, DCEO(T), Mr. Chineddu, Stacy Osbourne EO 11, Rawle Andrews EO 1, Loriann Jacobs EO 1, Marlyn Davis EO 1 and Alexis Arthur( Cadet Officer).
In light of the above, the agenda of the TVET Unit is to work religiously in ensuring that the sharing of information is provided to the wider populace of Guyana, as it relates to chartering a progressive, productive and prosperous way forward for TVET in Guyana to maintain continnity and sustainability.
The TVET Unit extends its gratitude and apprecaiatation to all the Heads/ Deputies of the Schools/ PIC's for making a special effort to be on the virtual meeting.
